🛠️ TRAILER DO’S & DON’TS — TRAILER REPAIRS 🛠️

We’re all for getting the job done — but some trailer problems shouldn't be “good enough for now.” 👀

✅ DO:
• Inspect your trailer regularly for cracks, damage, loose hardware, and worn components.
• Replace damaged safety chains, couplers, and breakaway components.
• Keep wheel bearings properly serviced.
• Repair damaged wiring and lights correctly.
• Have structural, axle, brake, or suspension problems inspected by someone qualified.

❌ DON’T:
• Ignore cracks in the frame or welds.
• Keep towing when a wheel bearing is making noise or running hot.
• Bypass safety equipment just to get back on the road.
• Ignore brake problems.
• Turn a temporary roadside fix into a permanent repair. 😅

⚡ TRAILER TIP TUESDAY: TEST YOUR BRAKES! ⚡

Got a loaded trailer behind you? You want to know those brakes are working BEFORE you need them! 🐶

Before heading out:

✅ Test your trailer brakes before getting up to road speed.

✅ Make sure your brake controller is operating correctly.

✅ Check your trailer plug and electrical connection.

✅ Inspect wiring for damage, loose connections, or corrosion.

✅ Make sure your breakaway system is properly connected and functioning.

🐶 BULLDOG TIP: Your trailer brakes aren't something you want to discover have a problem during an emergency stop.

🚨 TRAILER DO’S & DON’TS — PROPER LOADING 🚨

A trailer that’s loaded wrong can become dangerous FAST. Before you hit the road, remember:

✅ DO:
• Keep your load balanced from side to side.
• Position weight so you maintain proper tongue weight.
• Keep heavier items low and secure.
• Use properly rated straps, chains, and tie-down points.
• Double-check your load after the first few miles.

❌ DON’T:
• Put all the weight at the very back of the trailer.
• Exceed your trailer’s GVWR or axle/tire ratings.
• Assume something is “heavy enough” that it won’t move.
• Use damaged straps or chains.
• Forget that your cargo can shift while driving.

⚠️ An improperly loaded trailer can lead to trailer sway, poor braking, loss of control, and unnecessary wear on your equipment.

Take the extra few minutes. LOAD IT RIGHT. SECURE IT RIGHT. HAUL IT SAFE. 💪🐶

🔧 TRAILER TIP TUESDAY: CHECK THOSE TIRES! 🐶

Your trailer tires carry the load — don’t forget about them until one blows! 😬

Before hitting the road:

✅ Check tire pressure when the tires are cold and inflate to the pressure specified for your trailer/tire setup.

✅ Look for cracks, cuts, bulges, or other damage.

✅ Check your tread and watch for uneven wear — it can be a sign something needs attention.

✅ Don’t forget the SPARE! A flat spare won’t do you much good on the side of the highway. 😂

✅ Check the tire’s load rating and NEVER overload your trailer or tires.

🐶 BULLDOG TIP: A 2-minute tire inspection before you leave can save you a whole lot of trouble down the road.

⚠️ TRAILER TIP TUESDAY: LOAD IT RIGHT! ⚠️

Where you put the weight on your trailer MATTERS! 🐶💪

Improper loading can cause trailer sway, poor handling, and loss of control. Before you hit the road, remember:

✅ KEEP THE LOAD BALANCED — Distribute weight evenly from side to side.

✅ WATCH YOUR TONGUE WEIGHT — For many conventional bumper-pull trailers, a common guideline is roughly 10–15% of the loaded trailer weight on the hitch. Always follow the limits and recommendations for your specific trailer, tow vehicle, and hitch.

✅ DON’T LOAD TOO HEAVY IN THE REAR — Too much weight behind the axles can reduce tongue weight and contribute to dangerous trailer sway.

✅ SECURE YOUR CARGO — Use properly rated tie-downs and check them again after you’ve been on the road.

✅ KNOW YOUR LIMITS — Never exceed the trailer’s GVWR, axle ratings, tire ratings, hitch rating, or your tow vehicle’s limits.

🐶 BULLDOG TIP: A trailer that CAN fit it doesn’t always mean it CAN safely haul it!

🔧 POSITION: Trailer Painter

Responsibilities may include:
• Prepping trailers and metal surfaces for paint
• Cleaning, sanding, and preparing surfaces
• Applying primer and paint
• Operating spray-painting equipment
• Checking finished products for proper coverage and quality
• Keeping the paint area and equipment clean and organized
• Following all safety procedures

What we’re looking for:

DON’T FORGET ABOUT YOUR WHEEL BEARINGS!

Your trailer works hard — and a little preventative maintenance can save you from a BIG headache on the side of the road. 👇

Before hauling, especially on longer trips:

✅ Check your wheel bearings and grease as needed
✅ Listen for grinding or unusual noises
✅ Check for excessive play in the wheel
✅ Inspect your tires for uneven wear
✅ Make sure your lug nuts are properly tightened
✅ Give everything a quick inspection before hitting the road

💡 BULLDOG TIP: Don’t wait until you hear a bad bearing to start thinking about maintenance. Regular inspections can help catch problems before they turn into expensive repairs.
