Exciting news from our partners at the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF)!

During National Bike Month (May), MSF has partnered with PeopleForBikes.org to provide a FREE eBike training course for anyone who owns or is thinking about owning an eBike!

Introducing the newest Tennessee RiderCoaches! These 5 individuals made it through 3 strenuous weekends, battled the heat and weathered the rain all to complete the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic RiderCoach Preparation Course. With this training they will be able to train future riders in Tennessee. We now have three new rider coaches for the Cleveland Rider Education Program / Rider Education Southeast Tennesse and 2 for Upper Cumberland Motorcycle Training, LLC. We know they will do great things for our program! Congratulations graduates!

The Passing of a Legend - James O Cook III

It is with the deepest sadness that our family at Appalachian Rider Education Program announces the passing of its founder, Jim Cook. Jim passed away unexpectedly on October 21st, 2023. For over 30 Years Jim gave his time, love, and passion to saving lives through teaching Motorcycle Safety.

Jim's journey with Motorcycles started when he was a young boy, and his desire to help people learn to ride became his life’s passion after losing his cousin in a Motorcycle Accident at the young age of 17.

Coaching was never a job for Jim, he loved what he did and poured his heart into it. Jim delighted in taking the time with struggling students and would applaud them loudly from across the range when they made improvements. Thousands of students are better, safer, and more competent riders because of Jim Cook. He was a true master of his Skill.

Jim was a once-in-a-lifetime man whose kindness, generosity, and compassion will forever be remembered. Heather Miller, co-owner with Mr. Cook for the past 14 years, will be taking the handlebars and Appalachian into its next chapter with the help of our amazing Instructor family. We know he can truly never be replaced, and he will never be forgotten. Jim Cook was, and will always be, Appalachian Rider Education Program.
