GEN-Y was formed in 2011 by Carl Borkholder in the Northern Indiana community of Bremen, Indiana. The foundations of "Easy Hitch", as it was first called, were based upon the involvement of Carl in the recreational vehicle industry. His involvement in the ownership and operation of a business, which provided commercial tree care services, helped inspire the idea behind GEN-Y Hitch. Carl’s involvem
ent in the commercial tree care business drove home the inconvenience of not having a hitch system which was compatible among all the trucks and towable units necessary for the company’s operation. As a result of this incompatibility, crews were constantly forced to make special arrangements to make sure their vehicle could pull the particular trailer necessary for a particular job. Based upon this experience, Carl began to design an adjustable tri-ball hitch which allowed a truck to tow multiple trailers. The result of this work was the development of the patented Gen-Y Hitch. Easy Hitch has continued to develop the GEN-Y Hitch line which currently encompasses eight Class IV hitches as well as 3 Class V models. All of these hitches are designed with multiple stacked receivers that enable the three ball ball mount, to be easily adjusted for height and have weight capacities from 10,000 lb to 20,000 lb. The GEN-Y Hitch line has proven to be very popular and Geny Industries began marketing the Gen-Y Hitch line in 2013 on its website, www.genyhitch.com. Geny Industries has also established a Facebook site to showcase its products and has its own twitter account () as well. As a result of these marketing efforts and a solid word of mouth experience from satisfied customers, sales of the GEN-Y Hitch line of products have increased. The growth in demand has led Carl to continue to work on designs for accessories to utilize with GEN-Y Hitch products, including a weight distribution system for use in towing which is currently being refined and tested. The patented GEN-Y Hitch design has been proven in the field and the feedback from customers indicates to Geny Industries that there is a significant market for this product for both commercial and personal applications. With the potential addition of additional accessories for the GEN-Y Hitch product line, GEN-Y Group sees that demand for this line of product will continue to grow.
