Story time:
Had a Powerstroke come into the shop last week as a crank, no start.
A mom and pop shop gave him an estimate that was around 5-6k. They named 3 expensive parts and said that it would not start without replacing these parts. (High pressure oil pump, fuel injection control module, glow plug module).
Customer decided to get a second opinion at the Ford dealership. They quoted him 9k and some change to get it up and running again.
It ended up with me for yet another opinion. By now, this customer has been without one of his work trucks for three weeks and there’s no definite fix in sight.
Long story short, i’m not sure if the shops weren’t capable of diagnosing it properly, or if they were trying to make a huge lick off of this guy.
All it took was research, testing and live data to lead me to the problem. None of the parts suggested by either place was the fix.
A camshaft sensor and connector took care of my customers concerns.
He saved quite a few thousand and I’ve gained a life long customer.
I say all of that to say this;
