Keeping Kentucky’s Forestry Trucks on the Road 🌲🔧

We recently had a couple trucks from the Kentucky Division of Forestry in the shop for some maintenance and repairs.

One truck came in needing a wheel hub and steering gearbox replaced, while the other was here for routine maintenance with an oil change and tire rotation.

Whether it’s a major repair or regular preventative maintenance, we’re equipped to keep work trucks and fleet vehicles ready to do their job.

Chevy Equinox A/C Repair ❄️🔧

This Chevy Equinox came into the shop with an A/C refrigerant leak. After diagnosing the system, we traced the problem to a leaking evaporator core.

Unfortunately, the evaporator is buried deep inside the HVAC box, which means the entire dash has to come out to get to it. We removed the dash and HVAC assembly, replaced the leaking evaporator core, reassembled everything, and serviced the A/C system.

It’s a big job just to get to one component, but now this Equinox is back together and blowing cold again! 🥶

GMC Yukon Denali – MagneRide Suspension Repair 🔧

This Yukon came into BB’s Auto/Diesel Repair with leaking rear MagneRide shocks. These electronically controlled shocks are an important part of the Yukon’s adaptive suspension system and help maintain the smooth, controlled ride these Denalis are known for.

We removed the leaking units and replaced them with two new OEM MagneRide shocks, keeping the suspension functioning the way GM designed it.

If your Yukon, Tahoe, Escalade, or other GM SUV is riding rough, bouncing excessively, leaking from the shocks, or displaying a suspension warning, we can diagnose and repair it.

🔧 Chevy 3500 Duramax — Turbo Replacement

This Chevy 3500 came into BB’s Auto/Diesel Repair with an intermittent turbo vane position sensor code that would come and go.

Rather than just throwing a sensor at it, we dug a little deeper. During diagnosis, we checked the turbo and found excessive shaft play, confirming the turbo itself was worn and needed replacement.

With the turbo buried in the valley of the Duramax, this one takes some serious teardown to get to! We removed the necessary components, pulled the failed turbo, and installed a new replacement turbo to get this Duramax back to operating like it should. 💪

3.5 ECOBOOST CAM PHASER REPAIR — COVERED UNDER WARRANTY!

This Ford F-150 came back to us with the familiar rattle on startup. We had replaced the cam phasers about a year ago for the same issue, and unfortunately, one of the replacement phasers failed.

The good news for our customer: the parts were still under warranty, so they weren’t out the cost of the repair again. 👍

As you can see from the pictures, replacing cam phasers on a 3.5L EcoBoost is no small job. The front of the engine has to come apart to access the timing chains, guides, tensioners and phasers.

We stand behind the work we do, and this is exactly why we use quality parts with solid warranty coverage. Sometimes parts fail—but when they do, having a warranty behind the repair matters.

⚠️ Does your 3.5 EcoBoost rattle for a few seconds on cold startup? That’s a common sign of cam phaser/timing system trouble. Get it checked before it turns into a bigger problem.

FORD E-350 A/C REPAIR — BACK TO BLOWING COLD! ❄️

This Ford E-350 came into BB’s Auto/Diesel Repair with an A/C failure. We found the compressor had locked up and generated enough heat to melt the compressor clutch.

When an A/C compressor fails this badly, simply replacing the compressor isn’t the way we like to handle it. We installed a complete A/C kit to properly repair the system and help protect the new compressor from another failure.

Broken Exhaust Manifold Bolts? We’ve Got You Covered!

This GMC Sierra 1500 came into BB’s Auto/Diesel Repair with broken exhaust manifold bolts — a common problem that can cause an annoying exhaust tick, especially on a cold start.

We removed the exhaust manifold, extracted the broken bolts from the cylinder head, and replaced the damaged hardware to get the manifold sealed back up properly. 💪

Broken bolts can be a headache, but they don’t automatically mean the cylinder head has to come off. We have the tools and experience to get them out and make the repair the right way.

6.7L POWER STROKE — MORE THAN JUST A HEAD GASKET JOB! 🔧

This Ford Super Duty came into BB’s Auto/Diesel Repair with a blown head gasket. Once we got it torn down and sent the cylinder heads to the machine shop, inspection revealed both heads were cracked.

Instead of just getting it back together, we took care of several major upgrades and repairs while it was apart:

🔹 Brand-new cylinder heads
🔹 Head studs for increased clamping force and long-term reliability
🔹 New head gaskets
🔹 S&S Diesel DCR high-pressure fuel pump conversion — replacing the factory CP4 with a much more dependable design and eliminating one of the biggest potential failure points on the 6.7 Power Stroke
🔹 New cab mounts to replace the deteriorated factory mounts and tighten the truck back up

Jobs like this are exactly why proper diagnosis and inspection matter. What started as a blown head gasket turned into finding cracked cylinder heads before the engine went back together — and gave us the opportunity to address several other common 6.7 Power Stroke concerns at the same time.

When this one leaves the shop, it’ll have new heads, studs, an upgraded fuel system, and fresh cab mounts ready to put this Super Duty back to work. 💪
