A True Mid-Century Marvel: The Ford Rotunda ✨
If you love automotive history, you know that Dearborn, Michigan was home to one of the most incredible architectural wonders of the 20th century: The Ford Rotunda.
Originally built for the 1934 Chicago World's Fair, Henry Ford had the massive, gear-shaped structure dismantled and moved back to Dearborn, opening it to the public in 1936. For decades, it was the ultimate showcase of American automotive innovation, futuristic design, and industrial pride.
By the 1950s, it was the fifth most popular tourist destination in the United States—drawing in millions of visitors who marveled at the spectacular Christmas Fantasy displays, the massive 110-foot indoor globe, and the breathtaking architectural dome.
Tragically, we lost this iconic piece of history to a devastating fire in 1962, but its legacy as the ultimate symbol of Ford's mid-century golden era lives on.
Who else wishes they could take a stroll through the Rotunda just one more time? 🚗💨
