Planning is officially underway, and we’re already excited to make this year even bigger and better. While we’re enjoying the sunshine now (and still hoping for some snow between now and then ❄️), we can’t help but start counting down.

The wait is over — our official Thunder on the Mountain 2025 video is here! ⚡️

On August 30th, Shastice Park came alive with 186 stunning vehicles, over 2,800 people, great food, live music, and community vibes that made this more than just a car show — it was a true celebration and one big community party! 🚗🎶🍔

Presented and put on by the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Shasta, Thunder on the Mountain is quickly becoming a favorite for both car show enthusiasts and community members alike — a highlight of the year that we hope will continue to grow and be one of the most exciting events in Siskiyou County. And we’re already planning and coming up with ways to make Year Three even bigger and better. 🙌

This event wouldn’t be possible without the support of our amazing volunteers! 🌟

A huge shout-out to our volunteer committee members Adam & Tracie Oreck and Leslie Johnson, who work closely with BGCGS CEO Athena Oreck year-round to plan this event. 🙌

We’re also beyond grateful to our day-of volunteers—from running the beer booth, helping with set-up, lining the fields, assisting with parking, judging, registration & check-in, helping with trash (thank you MSHS Baseball Team!), and so much more!

Every single person played an integral role in making this event a success, and we couldn’t have done it without this incredible community. 💙🏔️

✨ Thank you for showing up, giving your time, and helping create an unforgettable day! ✨

This year we had a record 186 vehicles registered in the show — and they made it tough for our expert judges to decide! The competition was fierce and the lineup was jaw-dropping — but these rides roared to the top as our major award winners:

🏆 Billy Brown Award – Bryan Russell, 1929 Ford Model A
⚡️ A crowd favorite that captured the true spirit of the show — raw, classic, and full of soul.

🏆 Best 4x4 – Rick Mason, 1977 Ford Bronco
⚡️ A classic Bronco that looked ready to climb Mount Shasta itself — rugged and beautiful.

🏆 Most Unique – Chris Henry, 1949 COE 5700
⚡️ One-of-a-kind and full of character — this beast stole the spotlight with its sheer originality.

🏆 Best Paint – Randy Cardoza, 1971 Chevy Malibu
⚡️ Deep, glossy Brandywine paint that shimmered in the sun — an absolute showstopper.

🏆 Best Custom – Larry Manardo, 1956 Ford F100
⚡️ Clean, smooth, and fresh — this truck’s custom style was impossible to ignore.

🏆 Best New Car (1990+) – Kim Taylor, 2014 Chevy Charger
⚡️ Bold red and black stripes made this modern muscle stand tall among the classics.

🏆 Best Stock – Ted Landis, 1962 Chrysler 300
⚡️ A time capsule on wheels — sleek, elegant, and perfectly preserved.

🏆 Best Hot Rod – Grant Reynolds, 1929 Ford Roadster
⚡️ The “Speakeasy Special” turned heads with its wild stance and custom details — pure hot rod energy.

🏆 Best Truck – Jeff Weiser, 1971 Chevy K10
⚡️ A classic workhorse turned showpiece — tough, sharp, and beautifully done.

✨ What a show — thank you to everyone who brought the cars, the energy, and the community spirit. 🏔️⚡️

This year we cranked things up a notch at Thunder on the Mountain — expanding our awards to include motorcycle-specific categories! 🤘 The bikes rolled in with chrome shining, engines rumbling, and plenty of attitude to match.

🏆 Best in Show-Motorcycle – James Coffee’s jaw-dropping 2005 Harley Softail Deluxe (black). A showstopper in every sense.

🔥 Best Custom-Motorcycle – Doug Daudell’s bold 1974 Honda Chopper (gold). Straight-up art on two wheels.

💎 Best Stock-Motorcycle – Fermin Rubio’s immaculate 1971 Honda CT 70 (blue). A small but mighty classic.

From sleek Harleys to vintage Hondas, the bikes brought serious style and energy to the show. Check out the winners (and a few other killer shots) — and here’s to seeing even more two-wheeled beauties next year! 🏔️⚡️

One of the standout moments of Thunder on the Mountain 2025 came when Mount Shasta’s own, Camryn Brooks, took the stage before the awards ceremony and delivered a breathtaking rendition of the National Anthem. 🇺🇸✨

In her own words, she shared how meaningful it was to return home to the community where her love for singing first began — surrounded by friends, family, and the next generation of dreamers. 🏔️🎶

Thank you, Camryn, for sharing your voice and heart with us. You left the entire crowd inspired, and we’re so grateful you were part of this year’s event. 💙❤️

🏆Best in Show – Thunder on the Mountain 2025

This absolute stunner was chosen by our expert panel of judges as Best in Show:
✨ Kevin Gillikin’s 1961 Chevy Impala ✨
Proudly representing Siskiyou County’s own!

Kevin’s name will be the second ever added to our perpetual Best in Show trophy, and this gorgeous Impala will also be featured in next year’s official poster and t-shirt artwork.

Our CEO and event artist, Athena Oreck, is already dreaming up next year’s design inspired by this ride—bright colors, funky-fresh style, and all the energy this car brings. 😎💙

Thank you, Kevin, for coming out and supporting our show. The award was more than well deserved!

Stay tuned… next year’s artwork is going to be 🔥

How do we even begin to express just how incredible Thunder on the Mountain 2025 was? We’ll start with these 20 photos (with MANY more still to come 👀).

Year 2 Our goal was simple to name, but it would take a big effort to bring to life-we wanted to grow the event- bring together the car/motorcycle show community and the Mount Shasta community, carry on the Labor Day Show & Shine tradition, and make it more than a celebration—make it a party!! A place for people to gather, connect, and just have a good time.

And you all showed up BIG:
🔥 2,800 people (that’s 1,300 more than year one!)
🔥 186 incredible vehicles
🔥 Countless smiles + good vibes
🔥 $22,000 raised for Boys & Girls Club of Greater Shasta

Looking around the park, it was clear—this isn’t just a show anymore, it’s a tradition and a true community event. 🙌

We’re already cooking up plans for Year 3 (bigger & better, of course 😎). For now, enjoy these first photos and get ready for plenty more + our official video still to come!

Huge thanks to Heather Banos for the photos and to every volunteer, sponsor, and community member who made this day possible. You’re the heartbeat of Thunder on the Mountain. 💛

Tomorrow we find out who will claim the honor of having their name engraved on our Best in Show Perpetual Trophy—beautifully built by Mount Shasta’s own Kevin Brooks! This coveted trophy stays with us, but each year a new champion’s name is added for all to see. Last year, it was John Boyd… will it be YOU this year?

👉 Pre-registration is open online until 5 PM tonight. Pre-register now to save time at check-in tomorrow.
👉 Miss the online deadline? Don’t worry—we’ll also have paper registration available on-site the day of the show.
