On January 31st, 2023, DJ’s Diesel settled with the United States Environmental Protection Agency for violating the Clean Air Act. EPA asserted that I committed 308 violations for selling parts that altered emission control equipment and 154 violations for installing those parts onto motor vehicles.
Not only were my actions against the law, but they resulted in the emission of tons of toxic air pollutants that harm people and the environment. Removing the control equipment from one diesel truck is the equivalent of putting 300 on the road. These harmful air pollutants include nitrogen oxide, a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to global climate change, and particulate matter, which is directly linked to health problems such as heart attacks and asthma, and well as other harmful environmental effects that negatively impact ecosystems and water resources.
For these reasons, DJ’s Diesel is no longer in the business of removing or illegally altering emission control systems in engines. This means I will not engage in services that involve tuning, delete kits, exhaust replacement pipes, and any other service that illegally alters motor vehicle emission control systems. DJ’s Diesel will remain operational, and I look forward to continuing to serve all of you. However, moving forward, I am only engaging in mechanic and repair services that are in compliance with environmental laws.
