It’s been almost 20 yrs since the last time this thing ran and drove. Slowly but surely it’s getting back on its feet, first drive around the driveway!

The might as-well mind set went hard on this project. “Engines out so might as well rebuild everything else.” 😂. Now it’s listed up on presented beautifully by and .

Take a look and share it around. If you’re in the market for an old Evo this one is very well sorted now.

M5 getting torn apart. Found some rust on the brake lines and body. We will have to replace the main body brake lines and address these rust spots so this thing can live another 100k miles.

M5 getting some upgrades and much needed tlc done. Replacing these old wood board coilovers for some nice Bilstein pss9s along with a bunch of new oem bushings to restore the ride quality.

Taunus build update. Post-rust repair, we started tweaking the chassis to fit the 2.3 ecoboost motor and 6-speed transmission. The factory lower rails were too weak, so we replaced them with box tubing that connects the front rails to the rear trailing arm mounts. This will make the chassis way more rigid. The transmission's size meant we had to build a custom center tunnel.

This Taunus is turning into a Frankenstein’s monster of Mustang parts - 2.3 ecoboost engine, 6-speed transmission, 8.8 rear axle, and Mustang 2 front suspension on the Taunus subframe. This should be a big leap from the 70hp 1.6L Pinto running gear 😂.

Lots of small tricks and details built into this little 912 chassis. The torsion tube was reinforced with center gussets and outer plates which also tie in the spring plate mounts. Custom sway bar mounts were added and the front sway bar mounts reinforced.

The original pedal box was modified to have dual brake cylinders controlled by an adjustable bias bar, to control brake balance. The seats were lowered to the floor pan to keep the weight down and give us some more head room.

The rollbar is tied into the rear cross member , making it a functional rear support it also is removable. The chassis is seam welded in all the crucial areas nothing extra to save weight. The front arm mounting points are cut through the body and welded at both points to add strength.

As for electrics it will receive a PDM to control all the body control functions, so we built a custom mount for it. A electric heater was added to the front. The 2 outer gauges, radio, glove box were deleted for some more weight removal and bring that original 3 gauge look.

Oh plus the endless hours of replacing and gapping of almost every panel except the roof 😂.

Before and after roughly 700 hours of work 😅, 912 is nearly ready for paint.
