On September 4, 1957, Ford Motor Company celebrated “E-Day” and officially introduced America to the Edsel!

Ford had BIG plans for the Edsel, launching it as an entirely new brand alongside names like Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln. But things didn’t exactly go according to plan. 😬

Its unusual styling—especially that unforgettable grille—combined with pricing, marketing missteps, and changing consumer tastes made the Edsel one of the most famous automotive flops in history. Production ended after the 1960 model year.

Funny enough, the car nobody seemed to want back then has become a collectible piece of automotive history today! 🤯

On September 2, 1959, Henry Ford II introduced the Ford Falcon, a new compact car designed to be practical, affordable, and fuel-efficient!

⛽ The Falcon was promoted as getting up to 30 miles per gallon—pretty impressive for the era!

The Falcon would go on to become an important part of Ford history, and its platform even helped pave the way for another little Ford you may have heard of… the Mustang! 🐎😎
