Welcome Home!!! National Vietnam Veterans Day

Every March 29, we honor and recognize the 3 million servicemembers who were deployed and served in the Vietnam War. 🇺🇸 March 29 was chosen to remember the last U.S. combat troops who departed from Vietnam on March 29, 1973. On and around the same day, Hanoi released the last of their acknowledged prisoners of war. There are more than 58,000 deaths documented and inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. ❤️

To all Vietnam veterans, your service mattered, and it will never be forgotten. We are forever thankful for your courage and the sacrifices you made for our freedom. Today and every day, we honor you.

Remembering POW/MIA: Honoring Those Who Never Came Home 🇺🇸

POW/MIA stands for Prisoner of War (POW) and Missing in Action (MIA). These terms represent members of the United States Armed Forces who were captured during combat or whose whereabouts were never confirmed after a battle or military operation.

A Prisoner of War (POW) is a service member who was captured and held by enemy forces during wartime. While several POWs eventually returned home, their captivity often involved extreme hardship, uncertainty, and sacrifice.

A Missing in Action (MIA) service member is someone who went missing during combat or military operations and whose fate remains unknown. In some cases, remains are later recovered and identified. In others, families and the nation continue to wait for answers.

The POW/MIA designation is more than a military term—it represents a promise made by the United States to never forget those who served and never returned. Across the country, you may see the POW/MIA flag, a black and white flag bearing the words “You Are Not Forgotten.” It flies at military installations, government buildings, and memorials as a symbol of remembrance and commitment.

Organizations such as the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPPA) continue the mission of locating, recovering, and identifying missing service members from conflicts including World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and more recent operations.

For families of the missing, the POW/MIA designation represents both honor and hope—honor for their loved one’s service and hope that one day answers will be found.

When we see the POW/MIA flag, attend a remembrance ceremony, or pause in reflection, we are reminded of a solemn national duty: to remember the sacrifice of those who served and ensure they are never forgotten. 🇺🇸

We honor those that have served our country. Thank you for your service.

From the History Vault.

Today, we stand in silence at the 84th toll of the bell—a sacred count since the morning the skies over Pearl Harbor were shattered. December 7, 1941, remains a date etched in the soul of our nation, defining a generation by fire and profound sacrifice.

We reflect with wrenching sadness on the lives lost and the ships that became eternal tombs. Yet, within that tragic hour, we find the purest form of super heroic bravery. Young sailors and Marines, without a moment's hesitation, fought with unyielding courage, racing toward the inferno, saving comrades, and launching a defense that began the long road to victory.

Their immediate, selfless actions were the first, fierce heartbeat of American resistance.

As the years pass, the voices of the survivors grow few, their duty now fully passed to us. We carry the solemn promise: that the bravery, the sacrifice, and the ultimate heroism demonstrated that morning will never be forgotten.

We honor the fallen, the survivors, and the legacy they left behind. Their courage is the unshakeable anchor of our freedom.

🕊️ Lest We Forget. We Remember.

May your day be stuffed with gratitude, friends, family and memories. Wishing all a bountiful Thanksgiving.
