A motorist traveling from Pennsylvania to Florida called us last night thinking she had broken an axle. She had just had her brakes done when I noticed that her wheel was getting ready to be "yeeted" down the highway. 3 out of her 5 wheel studs had broken off. Luckily, she stopped in time or this could of turned ugly.

We towed her to our shop where we will thoroughly go through the vehicle and make the adequate repairs to get her back on the road. A lot of our customers think we offer just towing but we also have a full service shop.

Nothing like loading a bike during a thunderstorm. This customer was waiting for 8 hours for roadside assistance. Most companies don't want to transport bikes, but we have made it easier for ourselves and the customers with our PowerDeck unit.

One of my biggest pet peeves are unsafe steering wheel holders. I see these things everyday. If a rollback is going down the road with 1 chain and the winch holding down the vehicle its 100% illegal. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requires 4 points of contact. The winch does not count.

The news article I've posted below is of a heavy wrecker towing a dump truck with about 40, 000 lbs of material in the dump body. Judging by the video , the dump truck was not properly chained if it was even chained at all. The wrecker came off the exit ramp too fast and the dump truck slid off the forks. Safety chains were not used at all , which is required even if you are towing a pontoon behind your pick up.

Unfortunately, someone's vehicle was crushed and sadly a motorist passed. The driver of the wrecker will probably be facing manslaughter and negligence charges. A few minutes of your time to do your job safely or a lifetime of guilt when things go sideways. We as an industry need to be more professional.

Appleton police said a heavy-duty wrecker was towing a dump truck loaded with sand when the dump truck detached and rolled onto another vehicle.

Time and time again I see people going with the cheapest tow providers they can find. I was sitting at the drive thru of Dunkin Donuts when a wrecker/self loader pulled into the adjacent parking lot. Not one strap securing the vehicle to the truck. No safety chains and no drag light. One bump away from losing the car.

Not only is this illegal , it poses a hazard to other motorists on the road. If the vehicle was to come off the truck it will very easily go into on coming traffic. The Department of Transportation requires any vehicle in transport to have 4 points of tie down. This why hiring the cheapest tower is not always a great idea. If they are cutting corners like this, whatelse are they cutting on
