Hard starting, rough idle when cold, knocking, white or gray smoke and poor fuel economy can all point to injector trouble. Bad injectors also create extra soot, which is hard on the DPF.

We check injector balance rates and return flow, and when needed, injectors come off and go on a bench so the fault is confirmed instead of assumed. That way you replace only what has actually failed. Bench testing also shows whether a single injector is the problem or the whole set needs attention. The EGR system sends some exhaust back into the engine to lower emissions, and on many diesels that exhaust passes through an EGR cooler first. Over time, those coolers can crack and leak coolant inside the engine.

If you keep adding coolant and cannot find a leak, or you see white smoke, the EGR cooler is one place we check.
