If you don't own a profilometer or precision measurement devices, how do you know a cylinder has been honed properly? Even those with proper gaging don't know what they are looking at! We regularly field calls from individuals and shops alike that have had fresh rebuilds fail. When checked, we often find Nikasil cylinders that were incorrectly honed. That's why Porsche experts trust us for both new cylinders and reconditioning of blocks and original cylinders. That's value added service where it counts.

When rebuilding any M96 or M97 engine, it's important to also have your intermediate shaft inspected. Many fail our inspection for runout, which would have resulted in increased bearing wear and potentially an IMS bearing failure.

People don't realize it's been 20 years since we came up with the very first fix the for Porsche IMS bearing. Our original quadruple bearing fix required modification of the shaft itself. Things have come a long way since then.

We recently had a customer want to block off his air injection but didn't like the way people just put in a brass plug, leaving a blind hole in the port. We decided to make up some aluminum ones that could then be blended into the port. Simple but clean solution.

When magnified 100X, you can see the silicon particles in a Lokasil or Alusil cylinder. One of the modes of failure is when particles fracture and there aren't enough remaining ones to support the required oil film for the pistons and rings.
