Customer came in having issues with his Powerstroke building up extremely warm oil temperatures (230+❗️) just under normal driving conditions. We initially backflushed the oil cooler and saw a noticeable drop in temperature. Unfortunately, shortly after, the issue came back. Having confirmed the problem was indeed the factory oil cooler, we recommended replacement and suggested the customer look into an external option to avoid this issue happening again down the road.

If you know the 6.0L, you know that keeping oil and coolant temperatures in check is a huge step to ensuring long-term reliability. The factory oil coolers are notorious for clogging and causing excessive oil temperatures. By moving to an external setup—like this solid kit from IPR—we avoid hours of labor if the cooler ever needs attention again! This kit also features a full-flow coolant filter that cleans 100% of the coolant in the system, rather than the cheap bypass kits we often see installed on these trucks.

This customer also opted to replace the factory radiator with a full aluminum option from IPR. No more risk of plastic end-tank failures, and boy does it look good 😁

🔧 What we installed:

- IPR External Oil Cooler Kit: Relocates the oil cooler for maximum efficiency and incredibly easy maintenance down the road. Adds a full-flow coolant filter to protect the entire cooling system.

- IPR Aluminum Radiator: Heavy-duty aluminum construction to dissipate heat significantly faster and eliminate weak factory plastic tanks.

We want to give a special thanks to Nick Bohn for earning employee of the month! It started as a joke and technically he is our only employee at the moment but he has really stepped up his efforts in the last few weeks! We are proud to have him on the ZB team and look forward to helping him grow as a young technician!

We love putting a Remanufactured Jasper Transmission in just as much as the next shop.

But let’s be honest: our ultimate goal is to keep your hard-earned money in your wallet and keep your original 6L80 transmission alive and kicking for as long as possible.

These 6L80s are notoriously problematic (looking at you, torque converter failures!), but catching the warning signs early with routine fluid exchanges, thermal bypass upgrades, and proper maintenance can save you thousands.

If your GM truck or SUV is shifting hard or shuddering it may be too late for a fluid service. However if you’re unsure when the last transmission service was done and you want to stay on top of it to avoid costly transmission replacement there are a few things we recommend. From a simple fluid(Mobil 1) & filter change to this PPE upgraded pan & there thermal bypass valve.

This Gen3 Coyote rolled in with a rear caliper dragging and smoke coming out from under the hood.

Matt took take care of the brakes in the rear, new calipers, hoses, pads and rotors!

Zach replaced the valve covers that were leaking oil on to the exhaust manifold, freshened up the intake and injector gaskets. While we were in there we found excessive wear on the HPFP pushrod and follower. With the customers approval we updated the HPFP and follower preventing a possible headache in the near future!

2020 Ram 2500 Cummins: In for an A/C system service and a safety inspection.

2016 GMC 1500: Diagnosed a warm-blowing A/C system and completed the necessary repairs to get that ❄️ cold air blowing out the vents again.

2014 Ford F-150: Fresh oil change, safety inspection, new front brake pads and coated rotors, plus a brand new set of Falken Wildpeak H/T tires.
