Back home in North Carolina after a great weekend at Auto Crusade. 🏁
760 miles driven — with no trailer.
24 autocross runs
P4 out of 80 cars.
Fastest American car on site.
The overall top three were a Tesla, Mazda Miata, and Toyota GR86, with the ’71 Camaro finishing right behind them in the same class.
That makes for a pretty successful weekend.
The ’71 drove all 760 miles there, competed all weekend, and drove the entire way back home under its own power. That’s a pretty good validation of the car and its setup. 💪
More importantly, the weekend gave us a lot of data to work with. After going back through the notes, conditions, and the car’s performance, I think we found a potential solution that could be worth another 0.500–0.750 seconds on this type of surface and course.
That’s the part of autocross I enjoy — the work doesn’t stop when the runs are over.
The setup is proven when the conditions are right. Now we know where there may still be more time hiding.
I’ll save that change for next year. 😎
For now, the ’71 is back home, the notes are getting organized, and we’ll keep building on what we learned this weekend.
