We route every wire exactly like the factory, every clip is in place, every spot weld placed correctly and every seam is sealed. You don't need a concours-level restoration to turn heads...

This '79 Ford Bronco proves this point to a T.

Although the customer decided to stick with the factory gaps and paint finish, the result still shows that you don't need all that to have one badass truck.

We repaired all of the metal on this car, completely redid the interior, fresh paint, and installed that sweet custom decal kit (which was originally designed for a pickup!).

It may not have perfect gaps or the flawless finish of some of our other builds, but for some reason, this one is impossible to walk past without looking.

"What is so different about a concours restoration?"

A lot.

These are the cars at shows that are gone through with a fine tooth comb by the judges. Every nut, bolt, screw, clip, chalk mark, stickers, and even factory overspray locations are considered.

Everything HAS to be as it was when it rolled out of the factory.

What will it cost to paint your car?

This is the golden question everyone wants answered.

The truth? No two cars are the same. No two restorations are the same.

We pride ourselves on giving extremely accurate estimates. But we can only provide an estimate based on what we see. You don't truly know whats under the existing paint until you start digging in.

There could be damaged panels and shoddy repairs from previous work thats been done.

You. Just. Never. Know.

It's easy. New parts. Just paint and install.....

Well, we agreed and got sucked in big time! The new spoiler should just bolt on right? WRONG! We thought it would just take an hour. It took 2 guys 6hrs.. Unreal. Nothing fit, no holes were in the spoiler, the material was too thick, parts had to be removed and relocated, the air dam had zero attaching hardware, etc... We thought we could scuff and shoot the new part red. WRONG! The new part reacted with our paint. Why? I have no fricken idea. All I know is we had to sand and repaint this again.

So, TLC ate half the labor and the sand and repaint of the lower spoiler. But, it looks cool. Don't ask us to do another one. :) - Rip

This is one of the biggest differences between a collision repair and a true restoration.

On a restoration, getting the body panels straight is everything. That’s why we use high-build polyester primer and spend the time blocking the entire car to get every panel straight and consistent with the ones around it.

Ultimately, it comes down to nuances in the process to get a car ready for paint. Concours-level restorations (like the ones we do here at TLC) demand a different level of precision.

Because under the lights at a car show, every wave, low spot, and uneven panel is going to show.

The extra work is what makes the difference.

Looking for a right rear axle for a '47 Ford truck!

If you or anyone you know has a lead on one, please drop a comment or send a PM. Here are the details on what works for our build:

***Direct Bolt-In*** A complete right rear axle from a 1946 or 1947 Ford truck will bolt straight up with zero modifications.

***Parts/Donor Axles*** Any Ford truck rear end from 1942 to 1947 will work—we can use the internal components to swap over what we need.

We are trying to get this classic back on the road, so any leads, shares, or tags are hugely appreciated. Thanks for helping, pic for attention.
