Distracted driving is still a serious problem.

Hamilton County recorded nearly 3,800 distracted-driving crashes from 2021-2025, ranking second in Ohio. And it’s not just about phones passengers and other activities inside the car can take your attention away from the road too.

Remember:
1. Put your phone away before you drive
2. Keep your eyes and attention on the road
3. Avoid unnecessary distractions inside the car
4. Stay focused from the moment you start driving

A few seconds of distraction can be enough to miss what’s happening ahead.

Safe driving starts with full attention behind the wheel.

The county recorded 3,772 distracted-driving crashes over five years.

Quick myth-check: Hazard lights in the rain?

Hazards are for "I'm stopped," not "it's storming." Turning them on while driving disables your turn signals, so nobody can tell if you're slowing down or switching lanes.
Do this instead :

1. Low beams on (brights bounce off rain and reduce visibility)
2. Slow down, add following distance
3. Cruise control off
4. Can't see the road? Pull all the way off into a parking lot and wait it out

Rain causes more crashes than almost any other weather condition. Small habits, big difference.
CDA teaches this stuff for a reason. MetroWest's trusted driving school. 228 five-star reviews and counting.

What’s the one driving habit you wish every driver had? Or the one you wish would disappear entirely?

More than 90% of drivers rate themselves above average. Most have been driving for years. And most are wrong.
Here’s the thing about experience: it only builds skill if you’re doing it right. Repeating poor technique for twenty years doesn’t make you a better driver. It makes you a more confident one. That gap — between how skilled you think you are and how skilled you actually are — is where crashes live.
Competence and confidence have to be aligned. Training is how you align them.
👉 ‘I’ve been driving for years’ — does that mean skill, or just time? Tell us what you think.

Most Massachusetts drivers know you’re not supposed to use your phone while driving. Fewer know the law applies at red lights too — and that the fines escalate fast.
Here’s the accurate line: the hands-free law applies on public ways. If you do need to use your phone, you can pull completely off the road into a private parking space and a fully licensed driver can legally use their phone. Still on the road — moving, stopped, or stuck in traffic — hands-free only.
For Junior Operators, it’s simpler and stricter: any mobile device use means a suspension. No exceptions, no gray area.
Know the law exactly. Not approximately.
