After serving the Collector Car Community since 1993, I have decided to close shop. Having just completed radiation therapy for cancer and dealing with the death of my sister, I feel this step is necessary. Over those 26 years, I have seen many fantastic vehicles and met many wonderful people. Thanks to all those who called on me to provide valuations for their prized possessions.

I will be attending the Vintage in the Valley Show in Middletown on Saturday morning. Come see me and my Corvair Station Wagon and find out the details on having your collector vehicle appraised. Spring is finally here and the Car Show Season is about to start. I'll be attending the Clustered Spires British Car Club Cruise In on April 13 at the Frederick Church of the Brethren parking lot at Rosemont Ave and W. 2nd Street. 8am-1pm. Non perishable food item or $5.00 to register. Cars, Trucks, and Motorcycles welcome.

A local icon here in Frederick County, Maryland -- Mr. Stitches -- a hot rod built by Johnny Gaither was on display at the Rose Hill Manor Car Show held by the FSK Car Club on Saturday August 19. This car was often seen "making the circuit" on Frederick's streets back in the 50's and 60's and was one of the first to race at 75-80 Drag Strip in Monrovia. Johnny Gaither operated an upholstery shop and was a master of the trade.
The car suffered massive damage in a fire but was rebuilt to its original glory by Dale Grimm of Grimm's Automovation to honor Johnny. It was announced at the show that Johnny was in very bad condition and we learned that he passed away on Tuesday August 22. Rest in Peace Mr. Stitches.

Saturday August 5, Mid Maryland Corvair Club joined with First Hose Company of Boonsboro, MD to host the 13th Annual Pleasant Valley Car Show in Rohrersville, MD. We had 25 Corvairs representing the full line of Corvair models with the exception of Vans. Many attendees said they have never seen so many Corvairs in one place.

Here's a neat hot rod at the Golden Gears Home Run Show (6/25/17). It is a glass bodied 32 Ford highboy roadster equipped with a Chevy 350 with a THM 350 automatic. It belongs to Glenn, who was a regular customer at the store where I worked. Neither one of us realized that the other was a real car nut until we saw each other at this show.

I saw one of my all time favorite Pontiacs at the Golden Gears Home Run Show (6/25/17) -- a 1961 Ventura 2 dr. Hardtop with a 389 V8, 3 deuces, and those fabulous Pontiac 8 lug aluminum wheels. This was a one year only hardtop design for Pontiac as the '62's featured a more formal look.

Here's another interesting vehicle at the Golden Gears Home Run Car Show (6/25/17) - an Avanti II. After Studebaker closed its doors, the tooling and rights to the vehicle were sold off and what you see is the result. Instead of a Studebaker 289, the Avanti II's used small block Chevy engines as seen in this one.

Another vehicle I saw at the Golden Gears Home Run Show, this one really brings back memories. A 1961 Chevy Impala 2 dr HT lovingly referred to as a "bubbletop" I had one back in the day, in fact, my wife Faye and I went on our honeymoon in it in 1966 and it was our only vehicle until 1970.

Attended The Golden Gears Home Run Car Show at Frederick Keys Stadium Yesterday (6/25) . 8th annual event that honors and provides funds for 3 different Veterans Groups. On hand was one of the reasons the Allies won WWII--1942 GMC Deuce and a half. Wouldn't you love to have that 50 cal. on your daily driver to clear a path down 270?
