For RMCs and Global Mobility teams, arrival day is where a relocation program is first tested.

A relocation can be planned for months, yet the employee's first real experience of it happens at the arrivals hall. That moment often sets the tone for how supported they feel throughout the assignment.

In this short video, we walk through arrival day without ExpatRide and with us, from the moment the flight lands to the first morning in a new city.

ExpatRide works with RMCs and Global Mobility teams to give relocating employees one reliable standard of ground transportation, in every location.

How is arrival day handled in your relocation program today?

Global mobility runs on people who give back to the industry, not just build within it. ๐ŸŒŽ

We're proud to share that our CEO, Jesper Lรธvendahl, has been named one of WERCยฎ's 2026 Distinguished Service Awardees. ๐Ÿ†

This recognition honors those who have dedicated their time, expertise, and energy to strengthening the mobility community. For Jesper, that commitment has always gone beyond ExpatRide: sharing insights with peers, championing the people behind every relocation, and pushing our industry to think bigger about the assignee experience.

Congratulations, Jesper! ๐ŸŽ‰ The whole ExpatRide team is proud to work alongside you.

Ground transport is often an afterthought in vendor evaluation: three quotes, lowest number wins, decision made in a meeting that lasts fifteen minutes. It's treated as a commodity, where one vendor's ride is functionally the same as another's, and rarely given the weight it actually deserves.

That assumption deserves more scrutiny than it usually gets.

Start with what a quote actually tells you. It tells you a rate per ride, maybe a fleet size, maybe a coverage map. It doesn't tell you how rigorously a driver was vetted, how often that vetting is repeated rather than done once at onboarding, whether there's real-time visibility into a ride in progress, or how fast a provider responds when a trip doesn't go as planned. Those factors don't live in a spreadsheet. They live in outcomes, and outcomes are exactly what a quote comparison can't show you in advance.

The real issue isn't that a lower rate is automatically a red flag. It's that rate and risk are being compared on entirely different information. One is a number on a quote sheet. The other only becomes visible once something goes wrong. A fair comparison means asking about vetting standards, tracking capability, and response protocols with the same rigor applied to price, not assuming the number alone tells the full story.

For HR and Global Mobility programs, this isn't an abstract procurement question. Ground transport is duty of care, executed one ride at a time. The executive moving between back-to-back meetings and the new hire arriving somewhere unfamiliar for the first time are both, in that moment, the organization's responsibility. Neither of them experiences the vendor selection process. They experience the ride.

None of this is an argument for ignoring cost. Budgets are real, and no program has unlimited room to spend. It's an argument for asking a broader first question than "what's the rate?" A more useful one might be: if you removed price from the comparison entirely, would the current vendor still be chosen? If the answer is yes, the rate was never the actual reason for that choice. If the answer is no, or uncertain, that's worth sitting with.

This is also why RMCs and Global Mobility teams increasingly look for a single partner who already carries this vetting, tracking, and response infrastructure across every market they operate in, rather than rebuilding that diligence market by market with a patchwork of local vendors. It's less about spending more, and more about not having to guess what's actually behind the number on a quote.

Does your current RFP process even ask about driver vetting or response time, or does it stop at rate per ride?

Today is World EV Day ๐ŸŒโšก, and for a company that spends its days moving people across borders, that's not just a hashtag we get to post and move on from.

Ground transportation is one of the biggest, most overlooked levers in reducing the carbon footprint of a global mobility program. It's also one of the areas where small changes can make a real impact, without adding complexity to the booking process.

That's exactly why we built EcoRide ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’š. It's a dedicated initiative designed to reduce carbon emissions while delivering seamless, high-quality transportation for international assignees. Through our extensive global network of vetted suppliers, we provide environmentally conscious mobility solutions tailored to each client's location, budget, and sustainability goals, whether that's leasing electric and hybrid vehicles, offering greener rental options, or integrating sustainable chauffeur services. EcoRide helps businesses reduce their environmental impact without compromising service quality.

It's often argued that relocating employees isn't good for the environment, especially in a transportation-heavy industry like ours. Our own sustainability team set out to test that argument directly and found a real counterargument in the data. ๐Ÿ“Š

We didn't want to just claim that. We wanted to actually study it, so we did, twice. ๐Ÿ“„๐Ÿ“„

Our sustainability team has published two white papers digging into exactly this: what the research says, what it means for Global HR, and how programs like EcoRide fit into the bigger picture of making mobility genuinely sustainable, not just sustainable on paper.

๐Ÿ”—Read both at ExpatRide.com/sustainability

If your program has ever wondered whether ground transportation choices actually move the needle on sustainability goals, this is the research built to answer that.

For the HR teams and RMCs: electric vehicles for assignees, nice-to-have, or not a priority yet? ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿ‘‡

Leasing a car for a relocating assignee in Australia comes with a few things worth knowing before it lands on your desk. ๐Ÿ“‹

Lease costs can be invoiced directly to you or billed straight to your RMC, based on how your program is set up.

It's not just a passport and a license. A completed application needs salary, term, and allowances stated upfront before they'll move forward.

Foreign licenses expire fast here. After that, an Australian license exchange is required, no exceptions.

Lease terms start as short as 3 months, unusual from an international perspective. Long-term assignees get their pick of makes and models.

Unlike most markets, insurance is typically bundled into the lease itself, not billed as a separate line item.

ExpatRide supports Fortune 500 employees relocating anywhere in Australia, from major cities to regional postings, all through one point of contact, no matter which state your assignee lands in.

Does your program currently bill lease costs directly, or route them through your RMC?

08/27/2026

Most mobility programs pick one: Airport Transfer or Car Rental, when the two are meant to work together.

They're two steps in the same decision, and the order matters more than most people realize.

Here's what we see most often: an assignee lands, exhausted, and heads straight to a rental counter. Paperwork, insurance decisions, and unfamiliar roads, all handled on zero sleep. It works. But it's not the smoothest way to start an assignment.

The better sequence: an airport transfer for that first leg, flight tracked, driver already waiting, luggage handled, straight home. Then we can arrange the car rental once your assignee is rested enough to handle it.

Small change to the sequence. Noticeably better start to the assignment.

This is the kind of detail that doesn't show up in a program summary, but it's exactly the kind of thing your assignees remember.

Here's what you'll find in Chapter 1 of The Expat Clone. ๐Ÿ“–

It names three specific reasons international assignments fail, all of them sitting squarely inside what a mobility program can actually influence: no definition of success, proximity winning over performance, and nobody planning the return.

None of these are failures of effort. They're failures of structure, the same pattern our CEO Jesper documented across twenty years of international assignments and a survey of 272 expats.

If your team supports assignees through this, Chapter 1 is worth ten minutes of your time.
