Impossible Dream, a custom cat built by Dazcat to be wheelchair accessible. The only builder I know of, sans maybe Sunreef, to have done couple similar boats for private use as well. During the winter she lives down here in the Grove.

Prep begins for the Miami International Boat Show . This time I actually have a monohull to add to the mix courtesy of a new partnership with . Maxus 26. The interior isn't quite finished yet but it has a lifting foil! Good for shallow areas like Biscayne Bay. And it sails pretty darn well. All for 150k US.

While I was at Annapolis I took the liberty engage in some corporate espionag- I mean *ahem*, check out all the cool boats of course! Why not? 😉

The 1370 has proven popular as of late. In fact it's so popular that several customers with deposits came by my booth to consider Nautitech instead to skip the current wait on them since production is not quite keeping pace. Of course the overall build quality was very high, but like most Seawind layouts I don't think that they will win over the cat traditionalists.

The Max Cruise is more of an oddball. I don't care for the exterior styling and in the interior salon I felt a bit off. There were some fit and finish issues as well I noticed but I'll let it slide given it's a newer brand. For what you pay for it you get a forward cockpit cat for an extremely competitive price, courtesy of the US dollar and modern Vietnamese production practices.

New Video - Carbon Ocean 50. A little known local brand from New England that specializes in catering to local tastes for very expensive performance cats. It has some neat features especially in terms of the steering setup and rigging.

A funny story - I was once having a conversation with Peter Johnstone of Gunboat/MJM fame and he mentioned to me that there is a bigger market for high end custom American-built cats is a bit bigger than one might think. Many guys in this price range really don't like the idea of having to go overseas for their dream boat.

Like many of my best videos I simply came across this by chance at the Newport Show and decided to shoot it. Starting price for this I am told comes in a a cool 4.5m smacaroos.
