Thereโs an old stereotype that mechanics are nothing but thieves looking to take advantage of people. At D Boys Auto Repair, we take pride in proving that wrong every day. We believe in doing right by our customers and fixing what actually needs to be fixed.
This customer came to us after being referred by another customer she met while both were at a dealership receiving service that had been promised with their vehicle purchases. Nearly a year ago, she had been told her vehicle had an oil leak, but no one ever explained the source of the problem or offered a proper solution.
As she prepared to pass the vehicle down to her grandson, she wanted the leak diagnosed and repaired. During our inspection, we found the issue almost immediately: the oil filter housing sealing O-ring had not been replaced in a very long time. The O-ring had become flattened and hardened, allowing oil to leak. Replacing this seal is part of the normal service procedure and could have prevented the problem entirely.
This repair serves as a reminder that routine maintenance matters. Small, inexpensive service items can prevent larger and more costly failures down the road.
Many people assume dealerships always provide the highest level of service. While some certainly do, we regularly find vehicles with overlooked maintenance items and simple problems that have gone undiagnosed. That's why a thorough inspection and honest recommendations are so important.
Our goal isn't to sell repairsโit's to help our customers keep their vehicles safe, reliable, and on the road for years to come.
