Your battery died again? It might not just be the battery.

If you've already needed a jump once—or twice—it's worth finding out why before you simply replace another battery.

A car that keeps losing its charge could be dealing with:

√ An aging battery
√ A charging-system problem
√ Corroded or loose connections
√ An electrical drain while the car is parked
√ Too many short trips without enough time to recharge

Summer heat can also take a toll on an aging battery, so late summer is a smart time to have it checked before colder weather arrives.

If testing shows you do need a replacement, Dr. Jack's Auto Repair is an authorized Interstate Battery retailer right here in Merrick.

We'll help you figure out what's actually causing the problem and get you back on the road.

Heading out on a road trip this summer?

Before you pack the snacks and load up the GPS, make sure your car is ready for the miles ahead.

A few things worth checking before you leave:

✔ Tires
✔ Brakes
✔ Battery
✔ Fluids
✔ Air Conditioning

We see it every summer — a small issue that could have been caught ahead of time turns into a breakdown halfway through vacation.

A quick inspection before you leave can save a lot of stress later.

Planning some summer travel? We'd be happy to help make sure your vehicle is ready for the trip.

How much should an oil change really cost?

If you've searched for an oil change lately, you've probably seen prices all over the place.

The truth is, not all oil changes are the same.

The type of oil your vehicle requires, the quality of the filter, and what's included in the service all play a role.

More importantly, a proper oil change is an opportunity to catch small problems before they turn into expensive repairs.

That's why many local drivers choose our Oil Change Bundles. They combine routine maintenance and vehicle inspections to help keep your car running reliably while giving you more value from every visit.

If you're not sure when your vehicle is due for service, we're happy to help.

Your tires and brakes are your car’s first line of defense.

If your car is pulling, shaking, or taking longer to stop, something is wrong.

We understand how easy it is to ignore small changes, but those small signs can turn into serious safety issues.

Before spring and summer driving picks up:
√ Check your tire tread
√ Check your tire pressure
√ Listen to your brakes

Worn tires and brake issues increase the risk of accidents, especially at higher speeds or in emergency stops.

If something doesn’t feel right, we can help you figure it out before it gets worse.

Before you hit the road… make sure your car is ready.

We understand how exciting it is to plan a road trip, but the last thing you want is to deal with a breakdown miles from home.

Before you go, make sure you check:
√ Oil and fluids
√ Tire pressure and tread
√ Brakes and battery

A simple inspection can make the difference between a smooth trip and a stressful one. Fluids, tires, and basic maintenance are the most important areas to check before traveling.

If you’re not sure your car is ready, we can help you get it there.

If your steering wheel shakes when you brake, your car is trying to tell you something.

Most drivers notice it at a stop sign or while slowing down on Sunrise Highway… a vibration through the steering wheel or brake pedal.

In many cases, it’s caused by uneven brake rotors or worn pads, and catching it early can save you from bigger brake repairs later.

We broke down the most common reasons this happens and when it’s time to get your brakes checked.

Be honest… how overdue is your oil change?

A few hundred miles late usually isn’t the end of the world.

But pushing it too far, especially with short trips and stop-and-go driving around Merrick, can slowly wear down your engine.

If it’s been a while, our oil change bundles make it simple.

Car battery died again?

It might not actually be the battery.

Alternator issues, parasitic drain, and short trips are common causes we diagnose in Merrick and surrounding towns.

Replacing the battery without testing the system often leads to the same problem weeks later.

Car won’t start?

That sinking feeling when you turn the key and… nothing.

We see this all the time here in Merrick, especially during colder months.

Weak batteries, starter issues, fuel problems, even engine sensors can all cause a no-start, and guessing usually makes it worse.

If your car won’t start, here’s what it actually means, what you should avoid doing, and when it’s time for a proper diagnostic instead of trial and error.
