2019 & up 6.7 Cummins switched to a hydraulic roller lifter so they could run lightweight synthetic oil 10w30 or 5w40 full synthetic. As you can see the lack of film strength in the synthetics isn't your Cummins friend & leads to expensive failures on splash lubricated parts. 15w40 conventional oil, preferably a high zinc or high paraffin is still on the acceptable oil list for your Cummins. Using one of these high film strength oils will help prevent these early 100k mile failures. Or just wait for the tapity tap noise & bring it in. We will do a full mechanical solid tappet conversion back to the pre 2019 valvetrain that seems to last forever.
