🚨 Roads are hazardous this evening! 🚨

Strong winds are causing snow to drift back over plowed roads, creating slick conditions, reduced visibility, and icy patches as temperatures drop.

ACHD crews are working hard, but some of our drivers are seeing areas become snow-covered again within minutes.

❄️ Avoid driving if possible.
❄️ If you must travel, slow down and be prepared for changing conditions.
❄️ Report hazardous road conditions to non-emergency dispatch at (208)377-6790.

For all of you adults who unfortunately do not get a snow day today, here's a very important reminder to count to 7 before leaving home.

1 - Fully scrape and defrost the front and back windshield and make sure your wipers are working.

2 - Side windows should be completely clear.

3- Your headlights should be cleaned off and ON.

4- Check those tires to make sure they're in good condition for winter driving.

5- Don't forget the tail lights!

6- Leaving snow on the top of your car is dangerous for not only you, but the people around you. When the snow gets loose it can slide down to block your view, or fly off as you drive hitting other vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists.

7- Remove all snow and ice on your hood!

Don't rush this process and take off before clearing your entire vehicle. Give yourself plenty of time this morning to get to your destination. If you see our crews out there, give them a friendly wave and room to work and don't forget...NEVER PASS A PLOW ON THE RIGHT.

Let's get there safely!

FROM ACHD:
Areas of the county are starting to see snow and crews are responding! Here's how you can help get where you're going safely:

❄️Make sure your headlights are on and cleared of snow before you take off!

❄️Drive slowly and keep an eye out for all commuters including pedestrians, bicyclists, and other vehicles. Always look both ways before turning.

❄️Make sure to clear off your windshield, back window, and all mirrors and side windows before driving.

❄️Leave early and leave space between you and the commuters around you.

❄️DON'T CROWD THE PLOW! Please give crews plenty of room and NEVER pass a plow on the right.
