Looks like most tracks with the exception of 61 Kartways are off this week Hopefully you're preparing for some big races coming in the month June. While you have some downtime it's a good time to perform some maintenance and maybe get some practice in.
First up, even though I mentioned it in the off season check and replace fuel lines and fuel filter unless you followed my advice in the off season. It's critical to replace lines in the tank at the same time. Every year I see an issue with lines in the tank at least once.
Second, bearings unless you followed my advice and did it in the off season. Axle, spindle, and wheels. Check them.
Third, and this is a big one and expensive. Check your rear drain plug for tightness. But listen, some of you are gorillas so don't over tighten. Also, check the front fill plug for tightness. I have seen this plug come out once each year for the past three years and it's no one's fault. No one uses (or should use the front). Avoid this problem and check it. Yes you should tighten the new style front caps that are cut.

Again, I hope this helps so use the time off to make sure your equipment is ready for the big races coming up.

So, they're saying we are 30 days out from the Quincy Grand Prix.
I want to take a moment to reflect. MGM has had some success at the QGP over the years. It's a credit to the whole team. Two great drivers, crew chiefs, and support members. Everyone working together for a common goal.
I was talking to a local racer a couple of weeks ago and we were talking about the QGP. He's been racing all winter running races all over the country to prepare for this one Race. None of the others mean anything. That's how important this Race is to him but it's not just him. There will be 200-300 entries that feel the same way.
For me the nerves have started. Success breeds more success and eventually more success breeds expectations, high expectations. With high expectations fear can come. Fear that your success can come to an end. That's why at MGM we work, we prepare , we test even harder to ensure we live up to our own expectations.

This weekend all about fixing my stuff. Today an $1100 compressor motor. Don't judge when you're by yourself you improvise.
Last week transmission in the truck, trailer tires and roof leak at the house and the old shop. I'm bleeding money. When it rains it pours, literally. We have someone for the roofs, truck and trailer are ready to go now and compressor motor replacement today.
Hope we're done for a while.

Tuesday, I'm full time kart shop employee again.

In Final 2 of Ignite Sr at 61 Kartways I want to recognize a Team and Driver- 4th place Declan Conklin. Why? He missed a podium spot. Here's why, after having some ignition issues, Declan had to start last in a 21 kart field in final 2. He drove his way from 21st to 4th cleanly in arguably the most competitive Ignite class. Congratulations to you and your team on never quitting and THANKS for choosing MGM.

Spark plugs, coils, carburetor tuning. I neglected to say these plugs were from the same engine, same tune, same day on the dyno. The first was during a first break in session, the second from the second break in session, the third measured pulls. The 3910X is a very cold plug. In my opinion too cold.
