We’ve run into a recurring issue with aftermarket Toyota oil filter housings — specifically Dorman 917-016.
The housing appears to be manufactured out of spec, preventing proper use of standard industry O-rings.
We contacted Dorman directly and were told there have been no complaints — so no corrective action is being taken.
From what we’re seeing in the shop, that doesn’t line up with reality.

This creates a real risk of improper sealing and oil leaks — something we’re not willing to pass on to our customers.
