Austin Hanabarger been putting some solid time in on the 450 and getting more comfortable with the power. After getting some laps on it, we went back through the suspension and stiffened the setup up to better match his speed and riding style.

End of the day means going through and sorting shim stacks. Cleaning them, measuring them, and putting every size back where it belongs.

It’s tedious.
It’s time consuming.
And honestly… it’s not the fun part of suspension work.

But when you build true custom valving, organization matters. If you don’t know exactly what shims you have, their condition, and their thickness, you’re just guessing.

The details most people never see are the ones that make the difference on the track.

New 2026 AMA rule:
Chest AND back protectors required for all racers.

Must cover sternum, ribs, and spine (T1–T12). Can be worn under or over the jersey.

Safety is important — nobody wants to see riders get hurt. At the same time, motocross has always been a sport where riders decide what they’re comfortable wearing.

Some riders love the protection.
Some hate how restrictive it feels, especially in 90° summer motos.

So what do you think?

Good move for rider safety?
