One evening, as I was walking back to my car after doing some shopping, I noticed a woman who looked a little upset. She was on the phone, standing near her car, staring at a flat front tire.

Wanting to help, I approached her and saw that there were three young children sitting inside the car. Since it was a chilly evening, I knew I needed to act quickly. I asked if she needed help, and she gratefully said yes.

When I opened her trunk, I was surprised to find that she had a spare tire but no jack to lift the car. Since we were at Walmart, I went inside and bought one so I could change the tire for her.

After about an hour, she and her children were safely back on the road.

As soon as I got back into my car, my phone rang.

It was a child I mentor calling to tell me about his day at school. He then asked what I was doing. I told him I had just helped a woman with her car.

He paused and asked, “Why?”

I replied, “Because you’re never too important to be kind to people.”
