Auto Interior Specialists LLC is a locally owned business, we have been doing auto upholstery and interior work in the Memphis TN area since 1983. We mainly do wholesale work for local auto dealerships, repair shops, body shops, and fleet accounts but we have always done retail work for the public. We get most of our retail work by word of mouth referrals and from repeat satisfied customers. We ta

Unfortunately there are some very unqualified people out there attempting to repair interior issues.
In this case a late model Mercedes, the factory material is prone to delaminating. It really can NOT be repaired, the damaged sections need to be replaced. Whatever they used in their attempt to "repair" the seat cover not only looked terrible, it did not even bond to the original material.
I don't know what is worse, that someone did a repair like this or that someone paid for a repair like this.

Refinished Mercedes front seats and rear bottom seat. Had some normal finish wear plus the owner had tried using some leather conditioner with dye in it, the color didn't match. We could not completely clean it off.
So we prepped and refinished the leather.

New Lexus LS460 Driver seat bottom leather cover, we also cleaned and refinished the backrest cover to match.

Broken armrest / door pull on driver door panel is a common issue for Chevrolet / GM trucks and SUVS.
Now there is a replacement part available to fix that without having to buy a whole new door panel.

Is your headliner material drooping, falling down on your head?
We often are asked "can't you just reglue it"
The answer is NO. When the material is manufactured it is a very thin fabric that is flame bonded to a thin layer of foam.
In time heat causes that factory bond to fail and the foam starts to disintegrate.
The repair process is
Remove the headliner board
Thoroughly clean all of the old foam off of the board.
Install new foam backed headliner fabric using high heat contact cement.
And we go a step further in that we wrap the edges of the board unlike the factory where they just cut it off at the edge.

Depending on the vehicle there can be a lot of labor involved.

Don't try to reglue it yourself and never use aerosol spray glue to recover a headliner, the aerosol glue is thinned a lot to make it work in a spray can and it WILL NOT hold up over time to heat.
If you need a quick fix, just get some thumbtacks and use them to hold the material up until you can get the board recovered

Headliners are a lot more complex than they were many years ago (just like your vehicle).

In the pictures you can see the board cleaned off, the dry rotted foam on the back of the original material, the board recovered and back in the vehicle.

Some recent leather refinishing, these folks were "cleaning" their interiors and took the finish off of the center console armrest and seat.
You have to be very careful about what you use to clean leather.
The instructions for ALL leather cleaners advise testing in an inconspicuous area first.

At any rate once the damage has been done options for fixing the damage are either replace the covers, or we can refinish the leather

Another leather seat with vinyl side bolsters that crack and split with use. We replace the panels with leather which does not do that. And cheaper than buying a new factory cover which will eventually crack and split with use.
