During chip shortage Ford to sell SUVs without chips controlling non-safety features.

Ford and other carmakers including Tesla and GM are shipping some vehicles without all features during the chip shortage.

Ford is providing cars without chips for non-safety features like rear seat heating and cooling. Customers can expect a small discount for the inconvenience and dealerships will install the missing chips within a year from purchase (assuming chips are available).

This is a strategy to move some of the more than 70,000 Ford vehicles that were complete but in storage while waiting for chips.

AATEC Congratulates John Forro and AVI Virtual Automotive Coaching Program for their win in MOTOR.COM's 2021 Top 20 Tools!

Training is critical to automotive technician success and to the shops where they work. With the limitations that Covid protocols have placed on our industry's need for live training, Automotive Video Innovations (AVI) has developed a program to get live, instructor-led education directly to the student's computer.

AVI's Virtual Coaching Program uses standard video conferencing software to bring structured virtual training live to the student on various automotive topics. Held over six consecutive weeks, AVI educators present two-hour sessions to students from an automotive shop using five separate camera angles on training vehicles and props, giving a better viewing angle than a conventional live class.
