The final weekend had some significant ups and downs thus far. Lets start with Solly Mervis not being in attendance. He had another opportunity to race in Europe during the schedule lull since VIR. While there, a crash resulted in getting surgery on his collar bone & one of his vertebrae. While he is out for recovery, they are going to repair his ankle from an injury this year. We missed him at this round and wish him all the best in a speedy and full recovery!
How about this weather! If you aren't living under a rock, you have heard of the noreaster that is pelting the east coast. This includes NJMP..... Well, it landed here this morning! Yesterday in the dry, Kevin and Isaac were leading the charts for a while but got bumped to 2nd and 3rd. While improving their laps during Q1, Kevin lost the front coming onto the straight. The bike tossed, turned, bounced, and finallly landing. More importantly, Kevin was injured. He was having pain and tingling in his arm. The decision was made for him to go to a trauma unit close to Philly. This was a great decision. Because they found a neck injury that required surgery! We are happy to say, the surgery went well and he is up and walking! This is great news and we hope he heals fast and fully! We will keep updating his progress as we hear.
Kevin's incident brought out the red flag giving 9 minutes left in Q1. After the restart, Isaac had a similar incident in the same spot but a different angle. This resulted in significant time last night getting thr bike ready for today. Isaac was banged up a little but good to ride today.
Sooo..... this morning we were met with the rain and wind. They canceled Q2 and gave them 7 minutes to familiarize themselves for thr conditions..... and the green flag drops!!!!
Isaac had a tough launch with the front in the air, he got settled down and put his head forward, running 2nd behind Hank Vossberg on the Aprilia for a few laps. He worked past Vossberg and he kept in it and was pulling away! However Gouker had his eye on Isaac and chipped away until he caught and passed him. Isaac was staying with him and got back by with laps to go. Then, Gouker passed Isaac on the front straight and took the checker. However, he did this on a waving yellow and that is a no no! This pushed Gouker to 4th. This means what?
THE KARNS PERFORMANCE TEAM WON!!!!! WE FRIGGIN DID IT!!!!!!! ISAAC WOODWORTH PUT US ON THE TOP OF THE BOX. IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME!
THIS COULDN'T BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT EVERY MEMBER OF THE TEAM DOING THEIR PART. THIS IS A WIN FOR EVERYONE!
LET'S SEE WHAT TOMORROW BRINGS! THE LAST RACE OF THE YEAR!
