“NO! No way!” 😂

That was a customer’s response when I called today to tell him his vehicle was finished and ready to go.

Before coming to us, he’d already been to two other places trying to get his A/C issue resolved. At one of them, he’d spent over $600 and still didn’t have the problem fixed. By the time he came to us, he was expecting the worst — possibly a much bigger and more expensive repair.

After properly diagnosing the problem, Tommy found the issue, made the repair, and now that A/C is blowing a beautiful 38 degrees — which is about as close to heaven as you can get in this hotter-than-Hades Oklahoma heat. 😂❄️

When I called with the good news, he was genuinely shocked. He told me he’d had the worst business trip and was on his way home, and this was the best news he’d gotten all day.

Those are the phone calls I LOVE making. ❤️

Running a repair shop isn’t always easy, and not every phone call gets to be good news. But moments like this are such a good reminder of why we do what we do.

At the end of the day, it’s about helping people. Finding the problem, giving them honest answers, and getting them back on the road.

And when I get a reaction like that on the other end of the phone?

Yep. That made my day. 😊

I’ve been sitting here this morning thinking about just how blessed we’ve been with the people this business has brought into our lives over the years.

I’ve always known that what we do is about more than the vehicle sitting in the shop. On the other side of that repair is a person who needs to get to work, pick up their kids, pay their bills and live their life. Sometimes they’re trying to figure out how they’re going to afford the repair or who they’re going to ask for a ride. I remember what it was like when I was in that position myself, and I don’t think I’ve ever forgotten it.

But what really got to me this morning was thinking about how many of those people have become so much more than customers over the years.

One of our longtime customers had an appointment with us this morning. He hasn’t been feeling well, and instead of just not showing up, he stopped by on his way to get medical care because he wanted to let me know he had tried to make it.

And of course, my only concern was him. Forget the car. Go take care of yourself. We’ll worry about that later.

After he left, I started thinking about all the people we’ve had the privilege of knowing through this business.

We have customers we’ve known for so many years that we know their families and they know ours. We check on each other. We worry about each other. There are hugs when they come in, “love yous” when they leave, and conversations that have absolutely nothing to do with a vehicle.

We’ve had people stick with us through some really hard years. Through Tommy being sick, through changes in our business, and through times when life simply wasn’t easy. They’ve been patient with us, encouraged us, checked on us and continued to trust us year after year.

Somewhere along the way, a lot of customer relationships became friendships, and some of those friendships started feeling a whole lot like family.

Of course, running a small business has frustrating days. But when I think about the people who have been with us for years and years, the ones who send their kids and grandkids to us, the ones who trust us enough to say “just fix it,” the ones who check on us just like we check on them…man, we’re lucky.

So if you’ve been one of those people over the years, I hope you know that you’re more than a name on our schedule or a vehicle in our shop.

You’ve become part of our story, too.

And we love y’all more than you probably know. ❤️

This 2006 Honda Ridgeline was in the shop today for a front-end rattle and a sharp thump when turning left.

And honestly, that’s exactly the kind of information we need from you. You don’t have to know what’s causing the noise ~ that’s our job. Just tell us what you’re hearing or feeling, when it happens, and we’ll go from there.

After checking it over, Tommy was able to identify the worn components contributing to the customer’s concerns. We went over what we found, what we felt was most important, and from there the customer can decide how they’d like to proceed.

That’s how we like to handle repairs.

If we’re checking your vehicle over and see something that needs attention, we’re going to let you know. If we find several things, we’ll help you understand what’s most important, what should be addressed next, and what can be monitored for now.

We want you to have the information you need to make the decision that’s right for you and your vehicle — without pressure or scare tactics.

The customer also mentioned that the A/C was blowing through the driver’s side vents, but he wasn’t sure he was getting airflow on the passenger side. Thankfully, that concern had a simple explanation — the passenger vent was closed. We opened it back up and everything was working as it should. No repair needed.

And we’re always happy when the answer is something that simple.

Sometimes a concern has a simple explanation, and other times diagnosis shows that a repair is needed. Either way, our job is to determine what’s actually going on, explain what we find, and give you the information you need to decide how you’d like to move forward.

At the end of the day, it’s your vehicle and your decision. Our job is to make sure you have the information you need to make it.

We’re not the only ones around here who’s happy it’s Friday! 😄

When your vehicle starts running rough, don’t automatically assume the worst…

Sometimes it’s something as simple as a failed ignition coil like the one on top in this picture.

A bad coil can cause a miss, rough idle, loss of power, poor fuel mileage, or a Check Engine Light. The one on the bottom is what a good coil should look like.

The good news is…not every running issue turns into a major repair.

Every vehicle is different. That’s why a proper diagnosis can save you money by replacing only what’s actually needed instead of guessing or throwing parts at the problem.
