SMART SHOX Stage 2.0 — Quick Read

Stage 2.0 goes beyond revised shock firmness. It now recalibrates the Smart Shox system’s advanced auxiliary maps so damping responds more effectively to suspension position, acceleration, braking, and steering input.

Key changes:

-More usable rear suspension travel for better comfort and bump absorption.
-Reworked acceleration/anti-squat damping so the rear doesn’t unnecessarily stiffen under throttle.
-Improved position-sensitive damping to eliminate the harsh “wall” around mid-stroke.
-Refined braking and rebound maps to reduce forward pitch during corner entry.
-Progressive ski-shock rebound that better matches spring force throughout the stroke, improving ski grip and predictability.
-Better cornering support through steering-angle-based damping, which progressively firms the outside ski.
Three more evenly spaced modes:
-Comfort: Supportive but compliant, with greater usable travel.
-Sport: Approximately 10% firmer with more control.
-Sport+: Approximately another 10% firmer, with stronger active cornering support.
-Front and rear damping are better matched in every mode, keeping the sled flatter and more balanced.

The biggest improvement is in the rear suspension. Stage 1.0 could still feel soft initially, then abruptly firm near mid-travel—compressing the rider into the seat and pushing them back out. Stage 2.0 addresses the base damping and the auxiliary maps contributing to that behavior, allowing the suspension to move through more of its travel smoothly.

Bottom line: Stage 2.0 should provide greater comfort, better ski traction, more predictable cornering, and improved bump capability without relying on one mode being too soft and another being too stiff.

Price: $575 USD at release, or $150USD to upgrade from Stage 1.0. Dual-rate springs and the rear compression adjuster are recommended but not required.

More clutch testing on HD11!!

Here’s some Draggy data that shows just how fine the line can be between too much weight and not enough weight.

Baseline – QSC low-engagement setup
0–60: 19.34 sec
Distance: 1,188 ft
This setup generated quite a bit of clutch heat and belt dust.

Almost empty weights
Set screws in every hole except one. This setup felt good in the seat of your pants and pulled right to 7,000 RPM.
0–60: 20.95 sec
Distance: 1,316 ft
Despite feeling better and hitting the RPM I wanted, it was actually 1.61 seconds slower than the baseline.

Added some weight back
Still held 7,000 RPM, but now the clutch had enough mass to shift more effectively.
0–60: 18.38 sec
Distance: 1,129 ft
Nearly 2.6 seconds quicker than the lighter setup, while also running noticeably cooler.

That’s the big takeaway: an empty weight isn't always a better weight.
You need enough weight/mass to overcome the spring, shift the clutch, and maintain belt squeeze. Go too heavy and you overshift and create heat. Go too light and the engine may hit the RPM you want, but the clutch isn't necessarily transferring that power efficiently.

Bonus belt test:
Same clutch setup, but swapped the 250-mile OEM belt for a new GBoost WBB383.
0–60: 17.84 sec
Distance: 1,098 ft

That's another 0.54 sec and 31 ft improvement just from the belt!

We got as many HD11 QSC clutch kits out the door as we could before the UPS cutoff today. I appreciate everyone’s patience, these things move fast!

We now offer over 8 different baseline configurations developed through our own testing and real world customer feedback. Every kit is shipped with a proven starting point, and we also provide phone support for further tweaking if needed.

We still have a few orders to finish up tomorrow and should have a handful of kits left before the Monday rush.

Thanks for everyone supporting us!
