It was a busy day!! 🚨
While the roads appear plowed and even clear in some spots, the wind is blowing which is going to create drifts and will hide icy patches. Visibility is also lower in some wide open stretches of road.

🚘 If you must be traveling tonight make sure to turn on your headlights and keep a reasonable speed and proper braking distance given the conditions.

6:00AM Road Update - Many County Roads still have not been plowed. It seems State roads are being actively plowed and cities are also doing their best to open up streets. It is best to not leave the house if possible, but if you have to and find yourself needing our assistance we are available 24/7.

🎉 65 Years 🎉

Ray Eckstrom and Vince Stifter started R&V Service March 1st, 1961 in the current El Jimador building in Mayer, MN. In 1978 Vince built and moved R&V into our current building. We are on the 3rd generation of ownership and today marks 65 years of R&V Service. We thank all of our past and current customers for supporting us for 65 years!

*For those that may not have heard, Vince Stifter passed away two weeks ago, February 17th at 91 years old. Even after Tom took over in 1997 Vince wanted to be part of R&V and worked part time. After retirement he still enjoyed going towing with Tom’s employees.

(After Zachary took over in 2023) When Zach and/or Lauren would stop to visit, Vince would always ask them how things at the shop were going. He always said how happy he was that Lauren was in the office helping run the business, and would always tell his stories and memories of running the shop.

‼️ We will be closing early Monday, March 2nd to honor this man that started R&V. Vince’s wake will be at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (109 Angel Ave. NW) in Watertown from 4-8PM. We will also be closed Tuesday, March 3rd for his funeral, also at the church - the Funeral Mass starts at 11am. The gathering of family and friends will also take place 1 hour prior to the service. ‼️

Road update for 2/18.
❄️ Roads are VERY slick. There are reports of numerous accidents in the area. The rain from last night has started to freeze on the roads as the temperatures continue to drop, and the fresh snow is making the roads more slick.

🚘 Make sure to turn on your headlights and give yourself plenty of stopping room. Drive safe!

We are expected to get freezing rain overnight which could make the morning commute a bit slippery. Use caution while driving, and give yourself some extra stopping room.

New Years Eve 1pm Road Update 🚗

This morning the temps were above freezing so the roads were wet. Now the temps have dropped to below freezing and are going to continue to drop to single digits, so expect roads to be iced over again. They are already starting to get icy so if you are heading out to celebrate the New Year be cautious of the icy conditions.

Roads are still icy! There are spots where they look fine, and then you hit patches of ice. As the sun goes down and the drifting snow patches continue to freeze, remember to use caution while driving. Turn on your headlights and give yourself plenty of stopping room.

⚠️🧊 8am road update. Roads are incredibly icy. We have been called to multiple winch outs this morning. If you absolutely must drive, make sure your seatbelt is on, turn on your headlights, and give yourself plenty of room between you and other cars, especially for braking or turning.

⚠️ As of 4pm roads are being plowed, but it’s revealing glare ice underneath which is making turning and stopping difficult. Please continue to use extreme caution if you must go out. Just because the snow is slowing down and the roads appear plowed, does not mean it’s more safe to travel.
