Smoky Mountain Speedway’s Inaugural Roger Kerr Memorial Next For Topless Outlaws
Maryville, Tenn. (8-31-26) The Schaeffer's Oil by Mike Bruner Topless Outlaw Dirt Late Model Series will swing back to action Saturday, September 5th for the Inaugural Roger Kerr Memorial, paying $4,000 to win and $350 to start in a 40-lap main event.
The race pays tribute to long time East Tennessee race car owner, entrepreneur, and mentor to many drivers. Kerr was inducted into the Smoky Mountain Speedway Hall of Fame in 2018. His father was JT Kerr, who built and manufactured Stinger Race Cars. Roger owned and operated Competition Racing Equipment for many years before selling to driver and longtime employee Jason Welshan. Kerr passed away September 1st, 2025 at the age of 68.
Also racing will be Sportsman Late Models for $800 to win, Street Stocks for $700 to win, front wheel drive will run for $500 to win. During intermission, kids’ juice box races for kids 3-5 and 6-8 will take place. Kids may sign up to drive a track-provided car (cars are limited) or bring their own car.
Pit and tier parking gates will open at 3:00. Grandstand gates open at 4:00. The driver’s meeting will take place at 7:00 followed by hot laps at 7:30. General admission tickets are $20 for adults. Tier parking and pit passes are $35. Kids 11 and under are $5 everywhere.
The Series Format will consist of: Will Kinzer Foundation Hot Laps - Clifton Construction, LLC Time Trials / Shorty’s Shortys Motorsport Group A and Hoosier Tire South Dirt Oval Group B - CV Racing Parts Heat Races - American Racer Tires and Fullmoon Graphics last chance qualifiers.
Series Awards: $100 Spring Pro Smash the Clock Award for fastest in Hot Laps - $100 Fast Qualifier Award from Extreme Towing and Recovery / Calvin Pike of LaGrange, GA - The 22-Speed Shop / Mike Weeks $100 Hard Charger Award will go to the driver advancing the most positions in the feature. Warsh Day Hard Luck Award with a 5-gallon bucket of their new advanced car wash - Will Kinzer Foundation $100 Donnie Carroll Crew Chief of the Race Award - Race City Performance/Don Blackshear $100 bonus to the highest finishing driver running the CT525 engine.
