🚗 NATIONAL TEEN DRIVER SAFETY WEEK
October 18–24, 2026
Parents, your teen may be in the driver's seat, but YOU are still in control!
Driving is a privilege, not a right, and with that privilege comes tremendous responsibility. Our teenagers' lack of driving experience can put not only their own lives at risk but also the lives of everyone sharing our roadways.
As parents, you have the authority and responsibility to establish rules and enforce them. If your teenager isn't following the rules of the road, the keys shouldn't automatically be handed over.
At Ready 2 Roll Driving Academy, we encourage every parent to take a few minutes this week to discuss Louisiana's driving laws and the importance of making safe decisions behind the wheel.
⚠️ IMPORTANT LOUISIANA TEEN DRIVING LAWS:
🔹 Passenger Restrictions: Drivers with an intermediate license may not transport more than ONE passenger under age 21 who is not an immediate family member between 6:00 PM and 5:00 AM, unless accompanied by a licensed adult age 21 or older.
🔹 Nighttime Driving Restrictions: Drivers under age 17 with an intermediate license cannot drive between 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM unless accompanied by a licensed parent or guardian, a licensed adult age 21 or older, or a licensed sibling age 18 or older.
🔹 Cell Phone Restrictions: Louisiana prohibits drivers age 17 and younger from talking or texting on a cell phone while driving, except for certain emergencies. Additionally, first-time Louisiana license holders are generally prohibited from using a cell phone while driving for their first year.
🔹 Distracted Driving: Louisiana prohibits texting and other specified handheld phone activities while driving. Put the phone away and focus on the road.
🔹 Seat Belts: Every occupant must be properly restrained. Intermediate license holders are specifically required to ensure everyone is buckled up before putting the vehicle in motion.
🔹 Speeding & Reckless Driving: Speed limits are laws, not suggestions. A few seconds saved are never worth someone's life.
🔹 Alcohol & Drugs: There is absolutely NO place for impaired driving. One poor decision can change multiple families' lives forever.
❤️ PARENTS, PLEASE REMEMBER:
Your influence doesn't end when your teenager receives a driver's license. Continue monitoring their driving habits, setting expectations, and leading by example.
A five-minute conversation today could prevent a lifetime of heartbreak tomorrow.
Our goal at Ready 2 Roll Driving Academy is simple: No teen crashes. No teen fatalities. Every student returning home safely.
Let's work together to keep the young drivers of Avoyelles Parish and communities throughout Louisiana safe!
