When Does a Chip Become a Windshield Replacement?
Not every chip means a new windshield—but some damage is beyond a safe repair. At Wyndshyld, we follow the ROLAGS ANSI standard for determining what's repairable and what's not. Below are a few scenarios where replacement may be needed, but not always.

Replacement may be needed when:
The chip has spread into a long crack
The damage is too large or severe >14"
There are multiple impact points in the Driver's Primary Viewable area.
The damage reaches 2 edges of the windshield

Your windshield is glued in, not just held by a rubber gasket

Modern windshields are bonded to the vehicle with high-strength automotive urethane, making the glass part of the vehicle's structural safety system. Proper glass and bonding surface decontamination and preparation is vital to a proper and safe installation. Just normal glass cleaning is not enough anymore.

Make sure to ask about what training they have, what (if any) industry training they have attended, as well as what industry certifications, urethane manufacturer certifications they have.
