Quigley & Stein Score A.I.R.S. Wins At Del Gade Memorial

Maquoketa, Iowa: Saturday night the Maquoketa Speedway hosted the 6th Annual Del Gade Memorial presented by K Motorsports of Maquoketa. An outstanding field of 136 race teams including 32 of the American Iron Racing Series drivers who were in competition to honor Del Gade, founder of the very popular A.I.R.S.
The A.I.R.S. drivers ran two feature events, the first of which was a 12 lap feature that saw Matt Stein make the most of his opportunity to drive one of the Gade Motorsports Ford tribute cars. Stein drove the number 50 Ford Galaxie to the win holding off several challenges by Jed Holland. The second A.I.R.S. feature was the Del Gade Memorial and ran 15 laps with 17 drivers taking the green. Tracy Quigley drove his number 22Q to a hard fought win over Doug Yates who advanced from a fourth row start to challenge for the win. Yates in his Ford Torino took the lead late in the race but was unable to hold off a last lap charge by Quigley who scored the feature win by less than a car length.
22 drivers took the green for the Sportmod feature, the drivers were using every inch of the well prepared track, with three and four wide racing action taking place. 15-year-old Bryson Eckrich used both the top and bottom of the track on his way to the front from a 8th position start. Eckrich was able to move into the race lead by overtaking Josh Starr for the point position. Eckrich went on to win his second feature in his rookie season and his first at the Maquoketa Speedway in the very tough Sportmod class. Starr crossed under the checkers in second.
Bryce Garnhart proved to be the class of the field in the Joe Ross owned Arnold Motor Supply IMCA Late Model. Garnhart led the 25 lap main flag to flag scoring an impressive win ahead of Dalton Simonsen.
The action packed Nelson Tire Recycling IMCA Stock Car feature win went to David Brandies on Saturday night. Brandies advanced to the front from a 10th position start in taking the win over Ben Chapman and Jacob Ellithorpe.
The Not Quite Done Yet BBQ IMCA Hobby Stocks saw Kyle Jared pick up his first ever feature win at the quick 1/4 mile Maquoketa Speedway. Jared raced to the front from deep in the field taking the win ahead of Carson Butt.
The "Racing Referee" David Eberle scored another feature win in the Legends Direct INEX Legends class on Saturday night. Eberle came on strong late in the race taking the win ahead of Robby Morrison and Dylan Manning.
The McMahon Salvage 4stock feature winner was a repeat winner from a week ago. Dustin Forbes drove his hatchback to the win ahead of Rob Harding Jr.
Saturday, June 13th the Maquoketa Speedway will host McLaughlin Concrete Night at the races with another action packed night of racing on the quick 1/4 mile with a full show being headlined by the IMCA Late Models and IMCA Modifieds. Hot laps will get underway at 5:45 pm.
