Ron Hodgson, Bill Pitt and Ian Geoghegan at Bathurst in 1960, three Jaguar saloons close together into Hell Corner. It's a good reminder of what these cars were actually built to do, because underneath the racing history the Mk1 and Mk2 were designed as comfortable, quick, good looking cars for people who wanted all three at once.

That's still the appeal today. The straight-six gives it real presence on the road without being highly strung, the cabin is proper wood and leather rather than anything trying too hard, and the driving position puts you right where a car like this should. It's a Sunday car and a daily car in the same body, which is rarer than it sounds.

And it's not just a museum piece. Mk2s are still out on circuits now, Goodwood Revival among them, doing exactly what they did in 1960.

What's your Mk2, or which one would you have?

The best drives start with a Jaguar that fires up first time.

Fuel system problems rarely appear overnight. A tired fuel pump, ageing hoses, or a carburettor that's slowly picked up years of deposits can all leave a perfectly good engine reluctant to start when you need it most.

The good news is that most of these issues are preventable with the right maintenance and quality replacement parts.

Whether you're servicing a modern Jaguar or restoring a classic, SNG Barratt stocks a comprehensive range of fuel system components to help keep your car running as it should.

Some cars are built for the road. Others are built for the silver screen.

Jaguar has spent decades quietly stealing scenes, appearing in the hands of spies, aristocrats, villains and heroes alike, often without getting the credit it deserves. We reckon our followers know their Jaguars better than most, so we're putting that to the test.

Below you'll find three Jaguars, each pulled from a different film or television programme. One should be straightforward. One will take a bit of thought. And one is going to have even the sharpest-eyed among you scrolling back through memory.

Easy, medium, hard. No clues from us, just the cars themselves.

Comment your guesses below and tag a friend who'll want in on this one!

Staff Picks | Laurent – Business Development Manager EU & Marketing Coordinator EU

Every fortnight, we'll be asking members of the SNG Barratt team one simple question:
If you could own any Jaguar, which one would you choose... and why?

"Bonjour, my favourite Jaguar will always be the E-Type 3.8-litre Coupé, not the Roadster.
This is the first Jaguar I've ever seen and the first one I drove. The steering wheel, the view down that long bonnet, and the sound...It was a mystic experience!"

Do you agree with Laurent's choice, or would your dream Jaguar be something completely different?

The staging says everything before you read a word. A man in a white dinner jacket, tray in hand, leaning on the bonnet like the car's just pulled up outside a members' bar. That was the pitch: "Club car." Not a description of the interior, a description of the life.

Jaguar leaned hard into that fantasy for the 420G: burled walnut facings, prime hide leather, deep-pile carpeting, the kind of cabin that was meant to feel like a private room rather than a car interior. The lighting in this ad does half the selling, everything dark except the chrome and the white dinner jacket, the car looking less parked than presented.

Sixty years on, the ad still reads as an ambition as much as an advert, the sense that this was the car parked outside the room you wanted to be in.

Does your 420G still feel like a "club car," or has ownership turned out differently to how the ads promised?

Meet 50EE.

Rebuilt in 2011 to celebrate SNG Barratt's 50th anniversary, she was supposed to be a showcase car.

Fifteen years later, she's covered thousands of miles, tested countless new products, attended more events than we could list, and even tackled the hillclimb at The Lucas Classic, Shelsley Walsh - where this year an enthusiastic start-line burnout from a certain company founder proved rather more durable than the differential.

Thankfully, 50EE was built to be driven, repaired and driven again. Somewhere along the way, she stopped being an anniversary project and became part of the family.

Girling's disc brakes were proven at Le Mans, where the real test wasn't outright stopping power but consistency: braking the same on lap 50 as lap 1, while drum brakes of the day faded away.

That standard carried straight into road cars, which is why so many classic Jaguars still run on Girling-designed brakes today.

We stock Girling brake components across classic and modern Jaguar models, from standard replacements to uprated options.

This Jaguar advertisement pairs the XJ-S with a downhill skier, both committed to holding a fast line under control, which suits a car built for confident high-speed touring rather than tight, nimble handling.

The line "For those few among us who are totally committed to excellence in all things" reflects the XJ-S's standing in period as Jaguar's flagship grand tourer. A 5.3-litre V12 delivered a top speed of 152 mph and 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds, figures that placed it among the fastest production cars of its day. Leather upholstery and air conditioning were included as standard, reinforcing the car's position as a coupe built for effortless long-distance travel rather than outright sportiness alone.

The Swiss registration plates suggest this particular advertisement was aimed at a continental European market, where the XJ-S found a receptive audience among buyers seeking refined performance.

Also worth a smile: our team have decided that's definitely Columbo in the trench coat, asking "just one more thing" about some directions.

What is it about the XJ-S that appeals to you most: its engineering, its styling, or its place in Jaguar's history?

Staff Picks | Julian Parker – Lucas Product Manager

Every fortnight, we'll be asking members of the SNG Barratt team one simple question: If you could own any Jaguar, which one would you choose... and why?

"If I could own just one Jaguar, it would be the Ecurie Ecosse D-Type that won Le Mans in 1957—the year I was born. It was also the first Le Mans-winning car to use Lucas fuel injection.

Adding to its significance for me, the team's official timekeeper at that race lived next door to me for more than 20 years. He sadly passed away recently at the remarkable age of 102."

Do you agree with Julian's choice, or would your dream Jaguar be something completely different?
