Car Wash Myth Busted--Rust doesn’t care how clean your car looks.
Most folks think running through a car wash in winter will save their undercarriage from rust. The truth? It might just be feeding the problem.
Eric Wulf, CEO of the International Carwash Association, explained it best:
“No, filtration doesn’t remove all the salt… Reverse osmosis is usually not used for undercarriage washing. Most washes use a mix of fresh, recycled and reverse osmosis water… which means that salt is quite diluted.”
Translation: the dirt may be gone, but the salt is still along for the ride, only now it’s being blasted at 1,500 psi into every seam, fold, and cavity where rust loves to start. That’s not protection… that’s an express delivery service for corrosion.
That’s why we don’t rely on recycled salty water. NHOU products are engineered to creep, migrate, and displace moisture and oxygen in the 4,000–6,000 seams where rust really begins.
So yes, get your car washed if you like shiny paint. But if you want it to last? Don’t wash rust in. Keep it out.
