We’ve been adding some new members to our World Wide family the past few years as some of our loyal, long-time employees have announced their retirement. These are some bittersweet times as torches are passed to next generations.
It’s tough to say “see ya’ later”, when we’re used to spending 5 days a week with these guys, but we are grateful for their dedication to us and our customers, and we wish them nothing but the best as they enjoy retirement. They’ve certainly earned it!
-On December 21th, we celebrated Larry’s final day after just under 40 years of service. He came to us as a young Collision Repair Technician in November of 1981 for two years, spent two years seeing if the grass was greener elsewhere, then came back “home” to World Wide in 1983 and has been with us ever since. Our door was always left open for him, and we’re glad he returned. It has been our pleasure, Larry! He is looking forward to spending quality time with his wife, kids, and grandkids after literally watching the original three “kids” of World Wide grow up and learn to run the family business. Forty years…it seems hard to believe.
-On January 5th, we gathered to congratulate Dan on his retirement after 25 years as one of our Collision Repair Technicians. After doing some calculations, we realized Dan’s loyalty may closely rival that of Larry’s 40 years when we factor in his drive time. Dan lives over 40 miles away and drove over 400,000 miles to get to and from work over the past 25 years! (It’s also quite a testament to his very high mileage Honda which reliably carried him for most of those miles.) Dan’s planning to enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation but admits he’ll probably drive his wife crazy, so his neighbors might find him working as a greeter at some big box store in the next year or two. 😉 Whatever you choose, we wish you well.
Don’t be strangers, Dan & Larry! We wish you both many happy, healthy years ahead to enjoy your retirement and hope you’ll keep in touch.
We thank you for sharing your time & expertise with us, your attention to detail, and for the countless damaged cars you made look new again for our deserving customers. We are nothing without high quality employees, so you are very appreciated. You’ll always be part of our “family” and we’re glad you chose us. May the next generation of World Wide employees follow in your footsteps, take great pride in their craft, always feel like family, and also stick with us until retirement. It’s a true honor for us and also speaks volumes about each of you.
Congratulations, Larry & Dan! Enjoy!!
