Rescue 1 Rescue 1 offers all models of rescue vehicles, walk-in, non walk-in and crew walk-in. All makes and models of chassis, custom and/or commercial are available.

Rescue 1, was launched in 1985 and quickly became the premier quality manufacturer of Custom Heavy Rescue Apparatus. PL Custom Emergency Vehicles, the parent company of Rescue 1, has been manufacturing emergency vehicles since 1946. Rescue 1 was initially marketed to Fire & Rescue Departments in the Northeast. National distribution of Rescue 1 began in the late 1990’s to accommodate increased product demand. All rescue body layouts are custom designed for each individual fire department's requirements, supporting their needs for Extrication, Fire Support, Fire Command, Communications, Hazmat, Air and Lighting, etc. Rescue 1 constructs all rescue apparatus to comply with the latest NFPA standards. Rescue 1 specializes in state of the art rescue vehicles. The engineering and production staff dedicate 100% of their resources to the design and manufacture of the BEST rescue units available. Rescue 1, a small manufacturer by design, is able to focus on the customer’s specialized needs. Production schedules are tailored to permit individual Fire Departments to participate in the final design and layout of their Rescue Unit while it is in manufacturing. Rescue 1 maintains a manufacturing facility in Manasquan, New Jersey, less than an hour from a major airport, making vehicle inspection trips easy. This is especially important during the tool mounting phase.

Our PL Custom / Rescue 1 company picnic was last Friday and it was the perfect send-off to summer. Our teams work hard all year and to show our appreciation for all that they do, we had a day of fun at the factory! Activities included an apple bobbing contest, pie eating contest, basketball and football contests, in addition to a catered bbq lunch and give-aways. Thank you to all our employees for their dedication to being PL Proud, and all those who helped set up such a great day!

🚒Tool Mount Photos 🛠 Rescue 1 had the pleasure of seeing this Heavy Rescue again after the City of East Orange, NJ brought it back in for tool mounting. Lots of work done to customize this truck to fit all of East Orange's equipment, and we couldn't be happier with the finished product! This truck might also look familiar, we had it on display at the New Jersey Firemen's Convention in Wildwood. We'd like to thank the City of East Orange for trusting Rescue 1 and PL Custom to customize their new rescue!

We had a fantastic time at the New Jersey Firemen's Convention in Wildwood! Our team met some great new people, saw some old friends, and talked everything fire and EMS. We had two PL Custom ambulances, two Rescue 1 heavy rescues, a Toyne pumper, and a Marco mini pumper. We'd like to thank the West Keansburg Fire Co. / Hazlet Township Fire District, the Aura Vol. Fire Co., City of East Orange, and the Plainsboro Township Fire Department for loaning us their vehicles to put on display. We'll see everyone at next year's show!
