Wonderful to see cars from the Classic Car Club of America today in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington DC! ⭐️🇺🇸⭐️

These cars carry some of our National Treasures- WWII Veterans! This display is also supported by the Gary Sinise Foundation which is an amazing veteran’s organization! 🌟

Matt and I had the opportunity to participate with this group in the parade for several years and really enjoyed it! There is nothing like the Memorial Day Parade in DC to get your patriotic heart pumping!!! ❤️🇺🇸💙

Today is always one of my favorite days of the year! 🎉

Every year as a part of the Magnolia Area Historical Society I have the opportunity to share history of our town as well as a classic car with the third graders of Sandy Valley Local Schools. 📚

The students participate in a field trip visiting the four towns that make up our community and learn about each little town. It is always fun to interact with the kids and hear their questions and comments. 😂

Here I am in front of the old Magnolia Garage built in 1917 with our 1933 Packard Super Eight. It’s been all kinds of dealerships, a gas station and much more! It’s a really cool old building. I love history and I’m excited to share the history of our town and old cars with the kids! 🎉

The First Pinewood Derby took place on Friday May 15th 1953 in Manhattan Beach, California!! 🏁

Cubmaster Don Murphy organized the first Pinewood Derby in Manhattan Beach, California. Murphy’s son was too young to participate in the popular Soap Box Derby races, so he came up with the idea of racing miniature wood cars. With the help of parents, cubs build their own cars from wood, usually from kits containing a block of pine, plastic wheels, and metal axles.🛠️

I’ve participated in a couple derbys and they are so much fun! Maybe we’ll have one at Motorcar Portfolio. LLC next winter! 💡
