☀️ Meet Our Summer Intern! ☀️
You may have spotted a new face around City Hall—help us welcome to Matthew Arndt!
A 2025 graduate of Lac Qui Parle High School, Matt has already completed his first year of college and is pursuing a degree in Business Administration. After three summers working with our Public Works team (keeping things mowed, maintained, and looking great!), he’s getting a new perspective this summer in the Business Office—learning how all the pieces come together behind the scenes.
He’s been great at jumping right in—answering calls, tracking down information, and discovering just how much goes into keeping a city running smoothly. One thing that surprised him? The wide variety of permits our residents might need—from building projects to backyard chickens to golf carts!
When he’s not at City Hall, you’ll likely find Matt on the baseball field, basketball court, or golf course.
We’re glad to have you on our Business Office team, Matt! 👏 If you see him around, don’t hesitate to say hello!

🦟 Trivia Time Answer! 🦟

Thanks to everyone who gave it their best "jab" on our question: "How much does it cost each time the City sprays for mosquitoes?" Your answers ranged from $400 all the way up to $12,000 per spray!

The actual cost is approximately $1,950 each time the City sprays.

A few other interesting facts:

🚚 To effectively spray, the truck can only travel about 10 mph, and it takes approximately 4 hours to cover the entire community.

🦟 The product is comprised of microscopic droplets that float through the air for a short time and come into contact with flying mosquitoes. It does not target mosquito larvae.

💧 Want to help reduce mosquitoes around your home? Eliminate standing water whenever possible—that's where mosquitoes lay their eggs.

Thanks for playing along! Be on the lookout for our next Trivia Time question!

Meet Madison's newest clean-up crew member! 🧹✨

Our new street sweeper will be out and about this week helping freshen up city streets!

If you spot this shiny new machine rolling through your neighborhood park your cars off the street (even for a short while) so they can get close to the curb. A little sweeping goes a long way toward keeping our community looking clean and well cared for.

Keep an eye out—you might just spot the hardest-working new vehicle in town!
