While photos can provide an initial starting point, many repairs require a much deeper inspection once the vehicle is fully disassembled and technicians can actually see what is happening beneath the surface.

Hidden structural damage, broken mounting points, suspension issues, sensor problems, and additional impacted components are often impossible to identify accurately from photos alone. That is why repair estimates can sometimes change after the vehicle enters the repair process and technicians perform a complete inspection.

One of the most common questions we get at Dotten Collision is, “When will my vehicle be ready?” And honestly, that’s completely understandable. Being without your vehicle is stressful. But what many people don’t realize is that collision repair involves a lot more than simply replacing a damaged part and handing the keys back.

The process usually starts with a detailed inspection and disassembly to uncover all damage, including hidden damage behind panels that insurance photos may not initially show. From there, parts often need to be ordered, repairs approved, structural work completed if necessary, paint matched and refinished, reassembly completed, and then everything is carefully checked for quality and safety before delivery.
