Been another busy week. In spite of a full out ice storm, Jeff and I did two annual inspections on aircraft. Worked on the stock a little. Need to put the rear shocks on and final set up. I am planning on Beatrice in a couple of weeks if the weather cooperates. Had planned to work on the racecar today but ended up dealing with a flat nose wheel tire on an airplane and a tail rotor driveshaft issue on a helicopter. Beginning to think the only way to get some time for myself is to leave town. Might as well take the racecar with me. Have a good week everyone.

Been doing the weekly post on my page, can't figure out how to share. We have been busy working on aircraft in Iowa. Jeff just finished building a new skin for the wing we have been repairing. The weather forecast here is terrible. My helicopter is in a heated hangar, going to get it ready for next season. Jeff has been working on the motor for his Ford powered stockcar. Mine is essentially ready to go. Would love to race Cocopah, not sure I will be able to pull it off. Too much work, not enough money. Have a good week everyone.

Once again racing took a back seat to work. Only way I am going to get to race is leave. I am working on that. The picture of the aircraft with the green stripe is one I somehow have become the custodian of, which means I can fly it. It needed some work, which I accomplished this week, then it would be airworthy. I need to be able to fly aircraft around to facilitate maintenance. I have not flown these toy airplanes for a long time so yesterday morning I made 3 takeoffs and landings with this aircraft. Upon completion of these landings I was still alive and the aircraft was undamaged so, with my new found courage, I flew a newer model to our shop for Jeff and I to start on in the morning. As far as the racing, we sure need the money we are getting for the work we are doing, so I am going to concentrate on working with an eye to winter racing in Arizona. Have a good week everyone.

In order to speed things along I had occasion to move an airplane to a nearby airport for a check we don't have the equipment to do. Was a little apprehensive as I have not flown one of those in a very long time. Landings were safe but I will admit a little practice would not hurt. Getting the race car ready. Jeff helped me change the gear yesterday. We found the rr wheel was very tight. Turns out the lock ring failed and the hub was tightening its self. Fixed that and put my last new tire on. Weather looks good. Gonna try for Thursday. Have a good week everyone.

Didn't get to race this weekend. Between work, the weather, and the fact that I was somewhat worn out I decided to pass on Marshalltown. The fact I was not ready for racing with the big guys played a big role in the decision. While the car is basically ready it needs a more thorough look over for a big race. Need to take my shocks to Bobby at BHE to make sure they are working as they should. My tire situation is abysmal and the hauler needs a little work. For years I have been trying to get to Batesville with the modified. Never quite worked out. I need to make a business trip to Little Rock so maybe I can combine it with the stockcar race. My plan is to get things ready, watch the weather, and either Arkansas or Arizona. Lots of racing in Arizona in November. Guess we will see, have a good week everyone.

One of the aircraft we take care of has a non functional beacon. No sweat, we ordered a replacement. The airplane is 28 volts, we ordered a 28 volt bulb, the box said 28 volts. Did not work. Upon further inspection the bottom of the box said 14 volts. Only a bulb,no big deal, well actually, kinda big deal. The bulb cost over a hundred dollars! Had planned to race Lee county Speedway last night. Car is ready to load, kept watching the weather, finally chickened out. Turns out I made an uncharacteristically good call. The stockcar main was rained out. If I can scrounge up enough tires I might try to run Marshalltown this week. Heading to Wisconsin tomorrow to get some aircraft parts. Have a good week everyone.
