I spent my whole life saying I’d NEVER become a Corvette guy… and then I made the mistake of working on a few of them. Now I own one. 😂

We picked up this 2002 C5 Z06 for one heck of a deal. It has a couple issues and has probably lived a semi-rough life, but with just over 100,000 miles, there’s still plenty of life left in it—and we’re going to give this car the treatment it deserves.

Parts are already starting to roll in.

The car came to us with a bad slave cylinder, and we found out it had an O’Reilly’s clutch in it. Since Red’s Speed Shop is now an authorized Monster Clutch Co. dealer, that made the clutch decision pretty easy. We ordered a Monster S Series twin-disc clutch rated for roughly 750 WHP, along with an OEM slave cylinder/throwout bearing and Monster’s billet bearing support and shim kit.

The factory shifter also felt like it had absolutely no direction. After doing some research, TMODCustoms really stood out. Even with price taken out of the equation, the reviews, shift feel, and overall design made it an easy choice. We went with their 20% reduction setup.

We’ve still got a couple BIG surprises planned for this C5 Z06, but we’ll save those for another post.

Looks like the Corvette addiction has officially started. 👀

Today, the pink van techs feels a little blue.

Dolly Parton showed the world that you could shine brightly without ever dimming anyone else. She brought color into every room, kindness into every conversation and hope wherever it was needed most.

That spirit has always inspired us. Our pink vans may turn heads, but our techs strive to leave every home a little brighter than they found it. Dolly did that for the entire world.

Today, we lean into a clear blue morning as we honor a woman who was equal parts rhinestones and resilience, wit and wisdom, faith and generosity.

Thank you, Dolly, for showing us how to stand out, lift others up and never apologize for bringing a little extra sparkle.

Our girl did a webinar Thursday and clocked out for an extended weekend the same day.

Between the spa and 9 ice cream quests, she spent some time with Trisha 🩷 and professed her love to Slim. 🩵

They aren’t just celebrities to Andrea— they’re two of Houston’s personalities who’ve built incredible success by staying genuine to who they are.

Here’s to chasing dreams and remaining authentic and humble while doing it! 🍻

Well… apparently we have a stray problem now. 😂

I swear I wasn’t planning on bringing anything home, but this poor little C5 Z06 Corvette followed me home today. What was I supposed to do, leave it out there to fend for itself?! 😂

So I did the responsible thing and took it in.

Now I’ve gotta care for it, feed it plenty of 93 octane, give it a warm place to sleep, and probably spend an irresponsible amount of money making sure it has the best life possible. 😂

Andrea says I need to quit bringing cars home…

But technically, this is our first Corvette and our first C5 Z06, so I feel like that should count for something. 🤷‍♂️

Besides, look at it. You can’t just abandon a face like that.

She’s a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette C5 Z06, powered by the LS6 and backed by a 6-speed manual. And knowing me, I seriously doubt she’s going to stay stock for very long. 😈

For now, we’re just going to enjoy our newest rescue and figure out exactly what direction this Z06 build is going to take.

Adopt, don’t shop. Save a Z06. 😂🏁

Our new customer—and now good friend—Donnie brought us this beautiful 2005 C6 Corvette with just 61,000 miles on the clock. It had lived the stock life long enough, so it was time to wake up that 6.0L LS2 and let it breathe! 🇺🇸🏁

For the first round of upgrades, we installed:

🔥 Vararam Snake Charmer cold air intake
🔥 Texas Speed & Performance long-tube headers
🔥 Texas Speed X-pipe
🔥 Borla axle-back exhaust
🔥 Fresh tune-up
🔥 Custom tune to bring everything together

Paired with the LS2 and automatic transmission, this C6 is now running absolutely amazing. The throttle response is crisp, the power is noticeably stronger, and that LS2 sounds every bit as good as the car looks.

The best part? We were barely wrapping up the job before Donnie was already asking how soon we could ProCharge or supercharge it! 😂

We have a feeling this Corvette is only getting started, and we can’t wait to see where Donnie takes the build next.

Since installing it, we’ve had a different vehicle on it almost every single day — from classic cars and trucks to custom builds and LS-powered projects.

Before we provide a number, we plan the complete project, source the right parts, account for necessary fabrication and supporting work, and calculate what it should realistically take to finish the build.

We’ve seen what happens when someone receives a quick bid upfront without the proper planning behind it. The project gets started, unexpected costs pile up, and the customer ends up spending thousands more than they were prepared for.

Custom LS swap quotes require a $150 nonrefundable deposit. If you choose Red’s Speed Shop for the build, the full deposit is applied toward your project.

Once completed, the quote is yours. You can use it to work with us or take it to your favorite local mechanic.

We’re not interested in giving you the cheapest number to get your vehicle in the door. We want you to understand the real cost of doing the job right before the build begins.
