Here's some real feedback on the New Pioneer 1000 Deluxe and some real improvements over the previous edition! We are expecting our first shipment next month!
We just got done putting the all-new 2026 Pioneer 1000 Deluxe through a side-by-side comparison track test against the 2025 model at Rough Creek Lodge. If you think this is just a cosmetic facelift, think again. The mechanical changes completely redefine how this machine drives.
Here are the unfiltered track notes from today’s seat time:
The Throttle-by-Wire Game Changer: This is easily the biggest win. Moving to an electronic throttle takes all the jerkiness out of power delivery. When your foot is bouncing around over rough terrain, the machine doesn't buck anymore. It delivers power smooth as silk.
A Whole New Ride: The updated suspension and shock valving make a night-and-day difference. It glides over choppy, stutter-bump terrain where the older models would rattle your teeth.
Real Cabin Comfort: No more wrestling with side nets—you can see right through the new ones and they don't require unclipping to get out. The doors open incredibly wide (huge for bulky hunting gear or heavy boots), and they are completely rattle-free.
The Heat Check: Cabin heat has been a known pain point on previous generations. In our five-seater test, heat issues were non-existent. Note: We talked to some folks testing the three-seater versions, and they mentioned it still runs a bit on the warm side.
Smarter Steering: The power steering was recalibrated to give you way more wheel-to-ground feedback without feeling "slushy." You feel connected to the trail, not isolated from it. While there was an improvement, I’m not sure we would have noticed without the back to back comparison we did at the lodge. This system is the closest thing on the new units to the originals. It feels like absolutely everything else was changed and improved.
Storage & Accessories: There is an insane amount of storage onboard now. Plus, the new Pro-Connect integrated mounting points make customizing the bed seamless, and adding accessories or wiring electronics will be ten times easier.
The Not-So-Perfect Nuances:
Cruise control works great, but keep in mind it’s a "fail-safe" system—you still have to keep your foot resting on the pedal to maintain speed; it won't hold automatically like a car. Also, the accessory key limiter system leaves a bit to be desired, as it lacks key programming and doesn't offer high-level security like we expected. It’s basically just a switch you wire in under the hood.
The Verdict:
Going from a '25 directly into the '26 makes the older machine feel dated instantly. The styling might be a departure from what you're used to (we like it but have heard criticisms over originality) but the mechanical upgrades far outshine the looks. You have to ride it to see the difference because the difference is nothing short of massive.
Next up: We can't wait to get our hands on the full-cab Elite model later this year! 🛠️
