Stop in today to make sure your car is ready!!!

The Holiday Road-Trip Season is just around the corner. Is your car ready?

1) Tires. Check the tread on all tires and make sure they have plenty of tread left. Also check carefully for any cupping or other signs of uneven wear. And be sure to check the air pressure in your spare and make sure it’s full. If you end up needing to use it there’s nothing worse than unloading the luggage from the trunk to find a useless tire!

2) Battery. Sure, your car might start just fine here in November temperatures, but at Aunt Jean’s in Michigan your battery may not have enough life to even turn over, much less start your car. Have a test done and make sure that the cold cranking amps are up to handling sub-freezing temperatures. Thanksgiving weekend should be spent eating, watching football, and catching up with family. Not trying to find an open auto parts store and installing a battery in the driveway.

3) Emergency kit. You can’t control the weather, traffic jams, or other drivers, so it’s a good idea to have a few extras along just in case. We’d recommend having jumper cables, a blanket, flashlight or headlamp, road flares, and some bottled water.

FYI: The notorious "Check Engine" light gets a bad rap for overdramatizing trivial onboard diagnostic (OBD) codes like a tabloid newspaper, but in fairness, it also reports news you can use. We are able to scan these codes and translate the issues. It could just be a loose gas cap or it could be a something more serious. Stop in today if you are having any of the codes that you need checked out!
